Critical attacks continue! Amazon FBA announces suspension of removal operations!

“Not only do we have no orders, but we also lose reviews every day.”

"I took four tests at the beginning of the month, and when I contacted them, they were all in the hospital."

"My wife's company's goods have been shipped, but the foreigner sent an email saying he wants to cancel the order."

"I have a container here. The goods are ready, but the customer said he doesn't want to ship it anymore. The money has been tied up in the payment for the goods for several months. I'm about to jump off the building."

"Our company closed down, employees were laid off one after another, and I was suddenly unemployed!"
......

The above is the current operating status of some Amazon sellers. How much room for survival is there for cross-border sellers?
Warehousing delays, logistics price increases, extended delivery times, review deletions ... every piece of recent news is a bombshell for third-party sellers.

But the epidemic does not stop and the critical strike continues.

Amazon FBA announces suspension of removal operations

Amazon issued an announcement yesterday, announcing the temporary suspension of removal operations in some operation centers, which means that sellers will face delays or even cancellations of removal orders.

The announcement is as follows:

To ensure we have the ability to receive, restock, and ship high-priority products such as household staples and medical supplies, we have temporarily paused handling operations at some of our fulfillment centers.

You can continue to create removal orders, but there will be a delay in completing your request. Likewise, automatic removals will be delayed.

As a result, we are waiving long-term storage fees on April 15 for inventory stored in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

We understand this is a change to your business and we did not make this decision lightly. We are working around the clock to increase capacity and appreciate your understanding as we temporarily prioritize household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products for our customers.

Why is there this announcement? According to foreign media reports, at least six Amazon warehouses in the United States have tested positive for the new coronavirus. The six warehouses are located in New York City, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, Michigan, and Oklahoma City. Some warehouses will be closed for cleaning and disinfection, and some employees have been quarantined.

To sum up, some warehouse employees in the United States have been diagnosed with the virus, and some warehouses need to be disinfected, so they will face temporary closure. Then the sellers will naturally bear the consequences. FBA sellers have really endured too much...

Amazon also answered frequently asked questions about this change.

FAQ:

1. Does this change apply to all product categories?
Yes.

2. What happens to the removal order I have already submitted?
We have temporarily stopped removal operations in some of our fulfillment centers so that our team can focus on receiving, restocking, and shipping high-priority items to customers.
If you have already created a removal order, there will be a delay in us completing your order.

3. Do I need to pay removal fees for delayed removal orders?
No. We only charge removal fees when the removal order is completed.

4. Do I need to pay long-term storage fees for the inventory I request to be removed?
unnecessary.

5. Will the inventory I have placed on removal order still be available for sale?
Yes. The product will remain available for sale on Amazon until we begin processing your removal order.

6. Does Amazon take similar actions for its own products?
Yes.

7. Will the removal order be cancelled?
A small number of removal orders may be canceled. In this case, no removal fee will be charged. You can view the status of your removal order in the Removal Order Details report under the Removals section of your Inventory & Sales Reports.

8. If Amazon cancels my removal order, will the items in the order continue to incur storage fees (including monthly storage fees and long-term storage fees)?

Yes. If a removal order is cancelled, the items submitted in the order will be re-entered into your inventory. If this happens before the assessment date, storage fees will be incurred.

Seller's response

Seller A: That's nothing, you're still charged the regular monthly storage fee for products that can't be sold or returned.

Seller B: I can see what’s going to happen: the bad reviews will start, then our metrics will start to go haywire, then the ODR will spike, then Amazon won’t remove the bad reviews because the customer mentioned the “bad seller” in their feedback…

Seller C:   It is really ridiculous that Amazon sells the same item as us. When Amazon has the buy box, it offers prime delivery. When we have the buy box for the same item, the delivery date is April 29th. What the fuck is going on?

Seller D:   If customers stop placing orders with us because they don’t want to wait 4-6 weeks for Amazon FBA to ship their items and go elsewhere, will the Inventory Performance Index get some forgiveness?

Right now, we can’t take back inventory to address the backlog caused by reduced sales due to Amazon FBA shipment delays. My IPI has been removed from all the new FBA policies regarding non-essential items. Some items are out of stock but I can’t ship them. Some are overstocked and I can’t ship them. My IPI is not yet in the danger zone, but who knows how much lower all our IPI scores may be after a few weeks.

Seller E: We are unable to sell our inventory now. Could you please return it to us? Please!

Seller F: It’s times like this that I’m glad I’m an FBM seller.

If you ask what is the suffering of the world, I think the answer should be Amazon sellers.
What will happen to Amazon sellers next? It is unknown.
