Amazon's best-selling listings have been spoofed many times, and a reward of 300,000 is offered to "capture" the murderer
The road to cross-border expansion is full of hidden dangers. Sellers must not only abide by platform guidelines and be careful not to cross the red line of operation, but also compete with competitors in a fierce battle of wits and courage. What makes sellers most exhausted is the various attacks by pranksters that are hard to defend against. The hard work of sellers may be destroyed in an instant under a malicious combo.

Recently, a Shenzhen seller was attacked by a prankster, and the company offered a reward of 300,000 yuan to find the real culprit behind the incident.

Amazon's best-selling listings have been spoofed many times, and a reward of 300,000 is offered to "capture" the murderer

It is learned that a Shenzhen 3C seller recently issued a reward notice, calling on peers to find the black sheep who maliciously undermine industry rules and severely punish them.

It is reported that the pranksters deliberately attacked the multi-functional wireless charging products of the big seller, seriously affecting the normal operation of the store. The store is now soliciting relevant clues from colleagues about the mastermind behind the scenes. Once verified, a thank-you fee of 300,000 will be paid, and the clue provider will be kept strictly confidential.

The big seller said indignantly: "Our wireless charger has always been adhering to the business principle of honesty and integrity, and has been operating in a healthy manner in accordance with market rules. We have never had the idea or behavior of attacking fellow sellers. But in recent times, the repeated malicious attacks from sellers in the same category have made our company unbearable. For any malicious attackers who take unfair means, our company reserves the right to take all means to fight back."

According to known information, this seller mainly deals in wireless chargers. The sales performance of its products is among the best in the same category on Amazon US, and it has accumulated a certain reputation and heritage.

However, in the fast-growing and fast-dying 3C red ocean category, the competitive pressure is obvious. Data shows that in 2020, electronic products accounted for 27% of China's export goods, making it the largest export commodity category. At the same time, the total transaction volume of Chinese consumer electronics sellers on Amazon North America increased by about 60% year-on-year.

The biggest feature of consumer electronics products is their fast iteration speed and short life cycle. With the rapid growth of the number of market participants and the scale of the industry, the risk of competition is also increasing. In the front, big brands such as Anker control the core of the market, and new entrants are accelerating the internal competition. Because of this, malicious competition in the industry is also rampant, and innocent victims such as the sellers mentioned above continue to emerge.

There are endless spoofs, and the seller has gone through a lot of difficulties

Similar cases happen frequently in the Amazon industry. Previously, a seller of fascia guns was repeatedly attacked by competitors. His product listings were bombarded and removed from the shelves. He could no longer bear it and paid a huge sum of 500,000 yuan to pursue the culprit of the spoof.

For Amazon sellers, cross-border transactions are like seeking for a sutra, and it is inevitable that there will be all kinds of "monsters and devils" setting up numerous difficulties: the first is to maliciously post bad reviews to reduce conversion rates; the second is to follow sales across sites and add sensitive banned words; the third is to copy listings to independent sites and use them to file complaints about copyright infringement ... Many similar spoof methods have also caused many sellers to experience the embarrassment of having their products removed from the shelves, their listings becoming unavailable for sale, and even their stores being blocked.

Previously, a seller reported on the forum that a new product of his had only received a dozen orders a day on the sixth day after it was put on the shelves, but was targeted by a competitor, and orders plummeted after a malicious one-star negative review. Although sales gradually recovered after the refurbishment, it was attacked by negative reviews again within two days. Checking the buyer's homepage, it was found that all of them were for this type of product, and there was nearly one review. There were a total of nine one-star negative reviews, and the seller's links accounted for two of them. The rest of the negative reviews were also for similar products, and it was highly likely that they were spoof accounts of competitors in the same category.

Many sellers also feel that they are all in the same boat:

"I was honestly making my own links, but someone directly gave me more than a dozen one-star negative reviews using a high-quality buyer account. I couldn't even handle 12 five-star reviews. The buyer's ID was obviously a Chinese name, and one came every two days."
"I have posted a few links on my new store, but the reviews are not ideal, and most of them are malicious star-ratings, while most of the normal reviews with text are positive."
"I encountered this before when I was pushing it. I received two negative reviews. Now they haven't deleted it. The link is directly invalid. I can only push it again."

It is difficult to guard against competitors' spoofs. From the platform's perspective, it should standardize compliance operating guidelines, strike hard against spoofers, and protect the basic rights and interests of ordinary sellers, rather than allowing platform rules and systems to become tools for spoofers.
