Survey on gift shopping regrets in the US! 50% of Amazon consumers regret their purchases

According to a study by online search engine WeThrift, American consumers spend an average of two hours researching before buying gifts and spend an average of $106. The most popular types of gifts are those that are practical.

 

WeThrift surveyed 1,010 gift-shopping consumers in the United States and investigated the merchants where they were most likely to regret buying gifts. The survey showed that Amazon was the place where most people bought gifts, and consumers had relatively low regret. However, the regret of buying gifts from grocery stores and chain drug stores was the highest.

 

Amazon

50% of respondents regret buying gifts from Amazon.

72% of respondents said they shopped on Amazon, ranking first.

 

Walmart

53% of respondents regret buying gifts from Walmart.

Walmart ranks second with 43% of respondents shopping at the store.

 

Target

51% of respondents regret buying a gift from Target.

Target ranked third with 32% of respondents saying they shopped there.

 

Best Buy

52% of respondents regret buying gifts from Best Buy.

·30% of respondents shopped at Best Buy, ranking fourth.

 

eBay

54% of respondents regret buying gifts from eBay.

· eBay ranks fifth with 25% of respondents shopping on it.

 

Apple

65% of respondents regret buying a gift from Apple.

· 25% of respondents said they shopped at Apple, ranking sixth.

 

Etsy

62% of respondents regret buying gifts from Etsy.

· Etsy ranks seventh with 20% of respondents having shopped on it.

 

Macy's

54% of respondents regret buying a gift from Macy’s.

·18% of respondents shop at Macy’s, ranking eighth.  

 

Home Depot

62% of respondents regret buying a gift from Home Depot.

Home Depot ranks ninth with 17% of respondents shopping at the store.

 

Wayfair

75% of respondents regret buying a gift from Wayfair.

10% of respondents have shopped at Wayfair.
