Walmart will build four high-tech logistics centers to speed up order delivery!

Walmart will build four high-tech logistics centers in the United States to increase the delivery speed of its online orders. Specifically, these four high-tech logistics centers will be built in the next 2-3 years. The use of automation technology will greatly improve the speed of package packaging and delivery. Walmart will open its first high-tech logistics center in Illinois, USA this summer.

According to Walmart supply chain executives, the new centers will be located in Joliet, Illinois, McCordsville, Indiana, Lancaster, Texas, and Greencastle, Pennsylvania. After completion, they can provide next-day delivery and 48-hour delivery services to 75% of the U.S. population. Combined with existing distribution centers and out-of-store orders, Walmart's delivery range can cover 95% of the population.

It is learned that each high-tech logistics center will cover an area of more than 100,000 square feet and will employ at least 1,000 workers. This means that with the establishment of these new high-tech logistics centers, Walmart will create about 4,000 new jobs to expand its distribution network.

High-tech logistics center

Mike Prince, vice president of innovation and supply chain automation, explained that the new high-tech logistics center, designed by automation company Knapp, will reduce the number of steps in order processing (from 12 to 5), double the storage capacity, and increase order processing by 300%.
