News Flash! Amazon strikes! FBA delivery time is delayed! Many European countries are preparing to resume work!

Amazon's warehouses are facing an epidemic crisis, with confirmed cases in more than 50 warehouses across the U.S. Amazon has had to use a more expensive and effective thermal imaging system to monitor employees' body temperatures.

However, the workers are not buying into this effort. Recently, hundreds of workers from FBA operation centers across the United States organized a strike movement called "Mass Call Out" and will go on strike this week.

The long-awaited strike movement

Amazon workers have been protesting since the epidemic worsened and states across the United States declared a state of emergency and suspended all non-essential industries.

Because Amazon is one of the few channels for purchasing supplies during the epidemic, it continues to operate after the outbreak.

Recently, protests by Amazon workers have intensified, leading to this strike movement. The workers' strike threatened Amazon to completely disinfect the FBA operation center, provide more complete epidemic prevention measures and two weeks of paid leave, and close all warehouses with infection risks.

Now more than 300 Amazon employees have signed up to participate in the strike. According to data published on the event registration website, most of the striking employees are from warehouses in the eastern United States.

Currently, the strike website is still calling on more Amazon employees to join the strike. Those who want to participate in the strike can directly fill in the information on the event website to register.

The friction between Amazon and its employees due to the epidemic is intensifying. Before this time, there have been strikes in Amazon warehouses in some places, but they were limited to the location of the warehouses and were small in scale.

Now warehouse workers are the direct factor affecting Amazon FBA's capacity. Whether it is strengthening epidemic control, preventing employee infection, or employee marches and strikes, it will lead to FBA's capacity problems.

FBA delivery has been delayed due to the strike

After the trade union announced the strike on the 24th, some of our sellers reported in the communication group today that the delivery time of the inventory has been delayed again. The products that were shown to be deliverable at the end of April on Monday have now been postponed to mid-May.

This situation is definitely related to this strike, and if it was just this strike, Amazon would not have taken such a big action. Amazon should have predicted that this strike was just the beginning.

The losses caused by the current shutdown of economic activities have exceeded the US government's forecast. Trump has been encouraging states to resume production and has specifically asked several states where the epidemic is not too severe to resume work before the end of this month.

Amazon made internal adjustments in advance, delaying delivery time by more than half a month to deal with possible strikes and frictions.

The epidemic in the United States is still severe. Amazon is facing the dual problems of surging demand and warehouse strikes. FBA warehousing and delivery have been severely affected, and the resumption date is still hopeless. However, there is some good news from the European site. Amazon recently announced that it may reopen the French FBA warehouse that was previously closed due to a government ban around the 25th.

French FBA warehouses reopen

In mid-April, the French government suddenly issued a ban, forcing Amazon to close its FBA warehouses and await government review, and during this period it was not allowed to sell any products except food and medical supplies. Failure to comply with the ban would result in a fine of one million euros per day.

Overnight, a large number of products were shown as out of stock and unsaleable. Even the six essential product categories that were previously allowed to be sold were no exception. The sellers in our group also exclaimed that "the French site is completely dead."

Closing warehouses and suspending sales would cause huge losses, so Amazon would definitely not just give in. So Amazon did as it was told, but also appealed to a higher court, stating that its warehouses met epidemic prevention standards and demanding the ban be lifted.

In a written statement released by Amazon yesterday, it was mentioned that the policy of closing the French FBA warehouse will last until the 25th. Amazon's previous appeal against the ban will also be heard on the 24th, which means that Amazon is very confident about this trial and has expected to open the warehouse and sell necessities after the 25th.

Many European countries have already started to resume work

European public health officials said they believed the peak of Europe's first wave of the coronavirus had passed, and countries including Italy, Spain, France, Germany and the United Kingdom were considering lifting lockdown measures.

Italy will gradually lift the "national lockdown" from May 4
On the 21st local time, Italy reported 2,729 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 183,957; 534 new deaths, bringing the total to 24,648.

Italian Prime Minister Conte said on the 21st that the Italian government will gradually lift the "national lockdown" from May 4, and the specific plan will be announced this weekend. According to reports, Italy's current "national lockdown" will end on May 3. Conte said on his social media account on the 21st that from May 4, Italy will enter the "second stage" - "coexistence" with the virus.
He said that the Italian government will formulate a detailed and thorough plan to lift the blockade based on rigorous scientific evidence.

According to the current situation, France, Germany, Italy and Spain have already started to resume production in May, and the sales restrictions on the Amazon platform will be gradually lifted by then. Although epidemic prevention materials will still be popular, other epidemic-related products will also have opportunities. Sellers can look for opportunities to open up new markets from these sites that have recovered and resumed work.
