Banned sales warning? Amazon randomly checks this category of labels, and some links have been removed!

Amid the turbulent global economic environment, the cross-border e-commerce industry is bidding farewell to its wild growth period and moving towards a mature period of orderly growth.

During this painful period of transition and transformation, compliance is undoubtedly the first trend in Amazon's operations.

Putting aside the old-fashioned wave of account bans in 2021, Amazon's increasingly tightened brand registration applications and daily compliance reminder emails to sellers all confirm Amazon's operating rule of "compliance is the first of thousands of paths."

Recently, we learned that Amazon has once again sent reminder emails to European sellers regarding the EU energy efficiency labeling regulations and policies.

Amazon sends out mass emails about EU energy efficiency labeling regulations

It is learned that recently, many European sellers have received compliance reminder emails from Amazon regarding the EU Energy Efficiency Labeling Law.

Amazon said in the email: The products sold by the sellers who received this email may not comply with the EU energy efficiency labeling regulations. If the seller's products are not compliant, they need to prove to Amazon that they comply with the EU EU energy efficiency labeling regulations to avoid being removed on March 3, 2023 .

It is reported that the EU energy efficiency label is an information label attached to energy-consuming products or their smallest packaging, indicating the product's energy efficiency level and other performance indicators. Products that need to register energy efficiency labels include: air conditioners, lighting equipment, electronic display screens, washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators.

Energy efficiency label legend

According to the latest EU energy efficiency labeling regulations, all sellers selling energy efficiency related products in the EU are required to register for the EU energy efficiency label. If sellers of related products fail to register for the EU energy efficiency label in a timely manner, they may face the risk of not being able to list EPR classified products; goods being detained or even destroyed by customs; products being removed from shelves and stopped from sale, or even the risk of the store being closed.

It is also learned that this is not the first time that Amazon has issued a notification email related to the EU energy efficiency labeling regulations. As early as 2021, Amazon issued an announcement to remind sellers: From March 1, 2021, products sold in the EU that are subject to the new energy efficiency labeling regulations must update their labels in accordance with regulations, otherwise Amazon will remove the links.

It is worth noting that according to feedback from a seller in the lighting category, in the past only AC products would receive EU energy efficiency labeling compliance notification emails, but this time sellers of DC products also received the reminder , and some sellers’ product links were even removed from the shelves.

The links of several lighting sellers have been removed

It is learned that recently some sellers reported on the forum that the solar lamps they sold received compliance reminder emails from Amazon regarding the EU Energy Efficiency Labeling Law, and two links have been deleted.

In addition, sellers of other lighting categories have also reported similar situations:
"Do you need curtain lights? Our store has also received relevant emails."
"The DC light products were deleted in early January. I just filed an appeal and I am devastated."
"Originally, this was only needed for lamps with plugs, but the Amazon system often removes lamps without plugs from the shelves."

For this reason, many sellers have raised the question: Do all lighting products need to carry the EU energy efficiency label now?

Some sellers analyzed that: According to the EU energy efficiency labeling regulations, solar, battery and other lighting categories do not need to register energy efficiency labels, but the Amazon system seems to have classified all the lighting categories that cannot be distinguished into the scope of the EU energy efficiency labeling regulations.

Therefore, we would like to remind European sellers who have received relevant emails from Amazon to register energy efficiency labels for relevant products in a timely manner in accordance with regulations to avoid losses due to Amazon's "removing product links at the slightest disagreement".

In addition, if the seller's products are removed from the shelves due to energy efficiency and safety reviews, there is no need to panic. You can prepare sufficient appeal materials, including but not limited to product packaging pictures (including brand, energy efficiency, WEEE and other information), certificates and corresponding reports, energy efficiency labels and energy efficiency forms, etc. , and submit them to Amazon for review and appeal.
