U.S. consumer electronics sales expected to rebound in 2025, revenue to grow by $1.8 billion

It is learned that on January 7, according to foreign media reports, Circana’s latest report shows that US consumer electronics revenue is expected to grow by 1.6% in 2025, an increase of approximately US$1.8 billion, marking the industry’s gradual recovery after eight consecutive quarters of decline.

Circana noted that although the 2024 holiday shopping season performed better than expected, overall demand still faces challenges. Preliminary data show that sales in 2024 are expected to fall 1.3% year-on-year, but the rate of decline has slowed significantly compared to the past two years. Paul Gagnon, vice president and technology industry consultant at Circana, said that although consumers prioritize spending on core needs such as food, housing and transportation, the downward trend in consumer technology spending is slowing. At the same time, consumers have shown a demand for affordable luxury goods and are willing to pay for products that bring happiness while being thrifty about prices.

According to forecasts, computers, portable audio and TV will contribute more than 70% of the industry growth in 2025. Among them, personal computers have become the core driving force for overall growth. The demand for computer upgrades in the post-epidemic era, coupled with the popularity of artificial intelligence computers and updated operating systems, is expected to support market demand until 2027. In addition, TVs performed well driven by the demand for upgrades. Although consumers prefer cost-effective products, resulting in price restrictions, the popular trend of large-screen TVs is expected to boost sales.

In addition, categories such as digital cameras, tablets and headphones are also expected to continue to grow. The demand for digital cameras that attract young creators has steadily increased, the update of tablets with built-in artificial intelligence functions has driven the vitality of this category, and the launch of new headphones has also injected vitality into the market. At the same time, as digital health continues to become a focus of consumers, health and fitness trackers are expected to grow.
