The seller had accumulated several thousand reviews, so why were they all revoked?

The seller uploaded several listings using a UPC code generator purchased on Taobao, and they have been selling well. Recently, this prompt was found in the invalid information on the "Repair Item" page in the backend:

I hope I can make up for my mistake. The listing has accumulated thousands of reviews over the years. It will be a shame to see it taken down.

1. How can sellers save themselves?

I saw some enthusiastic sellers made the following suggestions:

The prerequisite is to have brand registration

1. Apply for UPC exemption

2. Apply for UPC exemption, generally from the major categories

After the application is successful, upload the product in the background to test whether the UPC exemption is applicable to your product's subcategory. If it is applicable to your product, you do not need to fill in the product ID.

If a small category cannot be exempted from UPC, you can choose a similar category node to upload the product. Once successful, contact customer service to help modify the category.

3. After testing, use the template to refresh your listing and update all of them. When uploading products using the form, all product information must be filled in completely.

It is worth noting that you can select ASIN for Product ID Type. As for why you don’t upload directly through the backend, it is mainly because the probability of successful upload through the backend is relatively low, and refreshing with a template is the fastest.

However, some sellers have questioned that this method only applies to new links and has little effect on old links.

Some sellers also believe

2. The proliferation of free UPC generators poses hidden risks

Not only on Taobao, but there are even free UPC generators available for download online.

Many generators on the Internet are unsafe and use UPC codes indiscriminately, which can bring certain risks to your account.

If a seller discusses an illegal UPC, it will not be as simple as simply revoking the review, the entire listing will be deleted.

3. Why not use genuine UPC codes?

It is understood that genuine UPC barcodes are not cheap. The fewer you buy, the more expensive it is. If you only buy one barcode, the price can be as high as $5.

However, sellers can apply for trademark registration for their brand and then apply for UPC exemption, so they no longer need to buy UPC codes!
