Another critical hit! Amazon FBA announced the suspension of order removal operations!

According to the latest data released by Johns Hopkins University in the United States, as of April 9, Beijing time, the number of confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the United States has risen to 396,405, with 14,817 deaths.

As the epidemic in the United States accelerates and escalates, a wave of unemployment has begun to appear in the United States. According to a U.S. media report on March 22, due to the impact of the epidemic, unemployment applications have flooded into various states. As more small and medium-sized enterprises suspend operations, it is expected that millions of people will apply for unemployment this week.

At the same time, the epidemic has also spread to multiple Amazon warehouses in the United States. According to Amazon and local media reports, Amazon warehouses are facing an increasing number of coronavirus cases. So far, at least 10 warehouses have been hit.

In order to alleviate the shortage of Amazon warehouse staff caused by the epidemic and improve order processing efficiency, Amazon previously announced that it would hire 100,000 employees and increase their hourly wages. But for now, this does not seem to have much effect on Amazon's nearly paralyzed FBA business.

Since March 17, when Amazon’s US FBA suspended the entry of non-essential goods into the warehouse, Amazon sellers have been hit hard.

Soon after, orders from the Italian and French sites were suspended, followed by a delay in delivery of FBA orders from the US site until April. However, Amazon's hammer has not stopped yet. Today, Amazon issued another announcement, announcing the temporary suspension of removal operations from some operation centers, so sellers will face delays or even cancellations of removal orders.

The announcement is as follows:

To ensure we have the ability to receive, restock, and ship high-priority products such as household staples and medical supplies, we have temporarily paused handling operations at some of our fulfillment centers.

You can continue to create removal orders, but there will be a delay in completing your request. Likewise, automatic removals will be delayed.

As a result, we are waiving long-term storage fees on April 15 for inventory stored in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

We understand this is a change to your business and we did not make this decision lightly. We are working around the clock to increase capacity and appreciate your understanding as we temporarily prioritize household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products for our customers.

Amazon also answered frequently asked questions about this change.

1. Does this change apply to all product categories?

Yes.

2. What happens to the removal order I have already submitted?

We have temporarily stopped removal operations at some of our fulfillment centers so that our team can focus on receiving, restocking, and shipping high-priority items to customers. If you have already created a removal order, there will be a delay in us fulfilling your order.

3. Do I pay fees for delayed removal orders?

No. We only charge removal fees when the removal order is completed.

4. Do I have to pay long-term storage fees for removed inventory?

unnecessary.

5. Is the inventory that has been placed on removal order available for sale?

Yes. The product will remain available for sale on Amazon until we begin processing your removal order.
6. Are similar practices adopted for self-operated goods?
Yes.

7. Will the removal order be cancelled ?
A small number of removal orders may be canceled. In this case, no removal fee will be charged. You can view the status of your removal order in the Removal Order Details report under the Removals section of your Inventory & Sales Reports.

8. If Amazon cancels my removal order, will the items in the order continue to incur storage fees (including monthly storage fees and long-term storage fees)?

Yes . If a removal order is cancelled, the items submitted in the order will be re-entered into your inventory. If this happens before the assessment date, storage fees will be incurred.

In addition, Amazon also mentioned in the notice that it will waive the long-term storage fees that will be incurred on April 15 for inventory in operation centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

This should be the only good news after the recent series of bad news, but the sellers do not seem to buy it. One seller said: "The long-term storage fee is not too much. It would be better if the short-term storage fee could also be waived."
