More than 220,000 bed rails on Amazon and other platforms have been recalled due to suffocation hazards! One death has been reported

It is learned that on November 14, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of adult portable bed rails sold by Medical King due to serious risks of pinching and suffocation.

It is understood that the recalled products involve three models of Medical King Bed Assist Rail adult portable bed rails, including height-adjustable bed rails (models 7007 and 7057) and legless bed rails (model 7037). The height-adjustable bed rails are made of black or white metal tubes with round black foam rubber handles and fabric bags. The legless bed rails are made of silver metal tubes with black foam rubber handles and black fabric bags. The products do not have model or brand specific labels.

Medical King sold about 222,000 of the recalled bed rails for about $40 between January 2020 and March 2024, primarily through Amazon, Walmart, Target, eBay, Kohls and online at medicalkingusa.com.

The CPSC said users could become trapped in the bed rails or between the bed rails and the side of the mattress. So far, Medical King has received one report of a death involving model 7007. In response, the CPSC urges consumers to immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Medical King to obtain a free repair kit or replacement bed rail (depending on the model).
