ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the world's largest and fastest growing international professional accounting organization. ACCA has 80 representative offices and offices around the world, providing support to students and members studying and working in 170 countries. The ACCA curriculum includes sixteen courses including finance, auditing, financial management, performance management and taxation. These courses are distributed in two stages, progressively deepening.

Part I: The basic stage is mainly divided into two parts: knowledge courses and skills courses, which are equivalent to the difficulty of undergraduate courses. The knowledge courses mainly involve the core knowledge of financial accounting and management accounting, and also build a platform for detailed learning in the subsequent skills stage. The three subjects of the knowledge course are also the three subjects of FAB, FMA and FFA studied by FIA registered students. The skills course covers the knowledge and skills in the fields of law, financial reporting, auditing, financial management and performance management that an accountant must have.

Part II: Professional stage, mainly divided into core courses and elective courses (choose two from four). The courses in this stage are equivalent to the difficulty of the courses in the master's stage, and are the extension and development of the courses in the first part. The courses in this stage introduce more advanced professional skills and knowledge skills necessary for future senior accountants. The elective courses are designed for students engaged in senior management consulting or consulting careers, and the skills to solve more advanced and complex problems. At the same time, some chapters in each stage are usually the basic knowledge or introduction of knowledge of the corresponding courses in the next stage.

Approved Employers

ACCA approved employers are employers who recognize the ACCA qualification and its value. Employers who recognize ACCA include foreign-funded enterprises, joint ventures, financial institutions and accounting firms. Approved employers include the Big Four accounting firms, banks, investment banks, Fortune 500 companies, large state-owned enterprises and large private enterprises. This means that fresh graduates who have obtained ACCA qualifications have a higher starting point in their careers than their peers! ACCA approved employers will give priority to hiring ACCA members and ACCA students under the same conditions.

ACCA and corporate cooperation projects

FCCA

FCCA means Fellow of ACCA. FCCA is the abbreviation of Fellowship of Chartered Certified Accountant. After becoming a member and having 5 years of work experience, you will become an ACCA Fellow.

ACCA qualifications can be roughly divided into: ACCA students, ACCA associate members, ACCA members, and ACCA senior members.

In China

Development History

1988: The first ACCA delegation visited China: Former ACCA CEO Anthea Rose and former ACCA Hong Kong Chapter President Fung Chi Wai led the first ACCA delegation to visit the Ministry of Finance of China and the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel. They also visited the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants, which had just been established for two weeks.

In 1989, ACCA signed a cooperation agreement with the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel. The agreement stipulates that the China Association for International Exchange of Personnel will work with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Economic and Trade Cooperation and the National Audit Office to select a group of outstanding accountants to study the ACCA qualification course, and will select universities with strong accounting disciplines to provide ACCA course training.

In 1990, ACCA cooperated with the National Audit Office Cadre Training Center to launch the first professional accountant training course in Beijing, recruiting 30 outstanding professionals.

In 1993, ACCA established its first university training program at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and subsequently launched ACCA training programs in major cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Dalian and Wuhan.

In 1994, ACCA signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In March and May 1998, representative offices were established in Shanghai and Beijing respectively.

By the end of 1998, there were 160 ACCA members and 1,950 students in mainland China.

In 2001, ACCA established a representative office in Guangzhou.

In 2003, ACCA's Centennial Celebration was launched at the Bank of China Building in Hong Kong and was broadcast simultaneously with celebrations around the world via the Internet. Huang Jing'an was elected the first Chinese president in the history of ACCA.

In 2004, Ping An Group became the first ACCA platinum-level accredited employer in China.

In 2005, the ACCA program of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics won the second prize of the National Excellent Teaching Achievement Award; the ACCA qualification was favored by large state-owned enterprises including China Mobile, China Life, and Huaneng International.

In 2006, the first ACCA Career Development Day was successfully held in Beijing, attracting 27 corporate exhibitors and more than 1,600 participants; ACCA President Christopher Foster presented the "ACCA President's Global Award for Accounting Achievement" to Li Jinhua, then Auditor General of the People's Republic of China.

In 2007, ACCA, the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and China Finance News celebrated the 30th anniversary of the International Federation of Accountants in Beijing; and reached a strategic cooperation with China Life.

In 2008, ACCA established its Shenzhen representative office; the first ACCA expert guidance group was established in Shanghai. Since then, ACCA has successively established expert guidance groups in North China and South China.

In 2010, ZTE became the first ACCA globally recognized employer in mainland China; ACCA signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In 2011, ACCA became a strategic partner of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's Entrepreneurship Training Center, and has long provided high-quality teachers and intellectual support for the Shenzhen Stock Exchange's mid- and senior-level management training courses for CFOs and independent directors of listed companies. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange and ACCA jointly held a roundtable meeting to solicit opinions on the International Integrated Reporting Framework, with more than 30 CFOs of Shenzhen listed companies participating.

In 2012, ACCA Shenyang Representative Office was unveiled.

In 2013, ACCA China Expert Think Tank was formally established, bringing together ACCA members who are active in the forefront of economic reform and corporate transformation. The 20th anniversary celebration of the cooperation between Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and ACCA also unveiled the "Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Management Accounting Project Research Center".

In 2014, the first ACCA student ambassador program was established in Shanghai;

The 20th anniversary celebration of the cooperation between ACCA and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, representatives of both parties unveiled the plaque of "ACCA Gold Level Approved Training Institution" for Zhongnan University of Economics and Law;

ACCA's undergraduate international teaching ACCA program, jointly developed by ACCA and Sichuan University, has reached its 10th anniversary, with remarkable achievements in the past 10 years;

In 2016, ACCA officially launched the Chinese recruitment platform "ACCA Job Bulletin Board" for accounting professionals;

In 2017, ACCA established the Changsha Representative Office, which is the 9th representative office opened by ACCA in mainland China.

ACCA members and approved employers win annual awards from Institutional Investor magazine.

In 2018, ACCA celebrated its 30th anniversary in mainland China and established Greater China; ACCA China has accredited 700 employers.


Eligibility

1. Anyone with a college degree or above recognized by the Ministry of Education can sign up to become an official ACCA student.

2. Students currently enrolled in institutions of higher learning recognized by the Ministry of Education and who have successfully passed all course examinations in the first year of study can register to become formal ACCA students.

3. Applicants who do not meet the above registration requirements but are over 21 years old can apply for membership through the Mature Candidate (MSER) ​​route. This route allows students to study as ACCA off-campus students. They only need to pass courses 1.1 and 1.2 in the four exams in the first two years to continue to take other course exams as formal students.

ACCA can take four exams a year, in March, June, September and December. There is no limit to the maximum number of subjects you can register for, but the maximum number of subjects you can pass in a year is 8. At the undergraduate level, those who have a bachelor's degree in accounting can be exempted from taking up to 5 subjects, so it will take at least 1-2 years to pass all ACCA subjects.


Exemption conditions

ACCA has a relative exemption policy for Chinese students who are interested in taking the ACCA professional qualification examination. The details are as follows: Accounting, finance, law, business and management, and MPAcc majors can be exempted from nine courses in principle; MBA degree, 3 courses are exempted; CICPA full pass, 5 courses are exempted.
