What is Bitly? Bitly Review

Bitly is the world's most popular short link service, which allows you to shorten URLs and make sharing them easier.

About Bitly

Bitly can track every click on your short link in real time, where the user comes from, where the link is clicked, how many times, etc. Complete History Bitly can save all your short links, so that you can check the statistics of all short links later. Integration with Twitter Bitly allows you to integrate your Twitter account. Through this function, you can post your short link directly to Twitter.

As of August 2018, Bitly has shortened over 37.5 billion URLs.

In 2017, SpeCTRum Equity acquired a majority stake in Bitly for $64 million.

Other Features

In addition to the short link service, the most attractive thing about Bitly is its statistical function. For example, when we briefly analyze the statistics page of Douban's Google Analytics application, it will first take a screenshot of the page and provide basic statistical details, and then display three aspects of statistical information in a chart: clicks, sources, and clicker locations, etc., which is very detailed. Then, through BackType's API, it displays the references of this log on SNS websites such as FreeFeed, Twitter, and Facebook, so we can monitor it in great detail, not only the number of clicks, clickers, and sources, but also the spread of the link on SNS websites, which includes almost all the information we need.

Development History

-In 2011, bit.ly addresses were set up to redirect to bitly.com.

- Starting on October 12, 2010, users could automatically generate QR codes that, when scanned with a mobile QR code reader, automatically directed the user to a shortened link. This feature was later removed.

- On May 29, 2012, Bitly announced the launch of a new search feature "Bitmarks," enhancements to the public profile and iPhone app.
