What is SAA certification? SAA certification evaluation
SAA certification is an Australian standard organization under the Standards Association of Australian, which means that all electrical products entering the Australian market must comply with local safety regulations. Due to the mutual recognition agreement between Australia and New Zealand, all products that have obtained Australian certification can smoothly enter the New Zealand market for sale. All electrical products must be SAA certified. Application cycle 3-4 weeks Established in 1922 Full name Standards Association of Australian Certification scope Quality management system; Environmental management system, etc. Market Australia, New Zealand Referred to as SAA certification for electrical products

There are two main types of SAA marks, one is formal approval and the other is standard mark. Formal certification is only responsible for samples, while standard marks require each factory to review. At present, there are two ways to apply for SAA certification in China. One is through CB test report transfer. If there is no CB test report, you can also apply directly.

Supervisory unit

The widely known SAA (Standards Association of Australia) is actually a standards institute responsible for the formulation and revision of standards. Electronic and electrical products entering Australia (including Australia and New Zealand) must pass this certification and have the certification certificate number printed on the product before they can be legally sold in Australia.

Australia is a federal country. The certification, control and management of electrical safety and energy consumption requirements are carried out by the regulatory authorities of each state or region in accordance with the certification procedures of the state or region. A certificate issued by any state is also valid in other states or regions without any additional procedures. In addition, QAS (Quality Assurance Services Pty Ltd.), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the SAA standards-setting organization, is Australia's NCB (National Certification Body). The certificates it issues are also recognized by each state or region and have the same validity.

SAA Certified Product Range

1. Regulated electrical appliances:

Controlled electrical appliances must obtain a certificate of approval issued by the monitoring department and must be marked (the certificate number must be marked). It should be noted that the certification process is only for safety and not performance or quality, unless it is related to safety. The first letter of the certificate number shows which state or region issued the certificate. For example:

Q91610 (Queensland)

W2015 (Western Australia)

N10422 (New South Wales)

2. Non-regulated electrical appliances:

Although non-regulated products are not required to obtain certification, their safety is the responsibility of the seller/manufacturer, and they can apply for certification voluntarily. The monitoring department will issue a Certificate of Suitability for products that meet the standard requirements. Electrical products that have obtained a Certificate of Suitability can be marked with a certificate number, and the last letter of the certificate indicates which state or region issued the certificate, such as:

CS/431/Q (Queensland)

CS/108/N(New South Wales)

RCM mark: Australia and New Zealand are currently introducing the RCM mark (Regulatory Compliance Mark) to achieve a unified identification of electrical products. This mark is a trademark owned by the regulatory agencies of Australia and New Zealand, indicating that the product complies with both safety regulations and EMC requirements. It is non-mandatory. After the product obtains safety certification and electromagnetic compatibility registration, you can apply for the use of the RCM mark through the regulatory agency that issued the safety certification or "RCM Registrar" (StandardsAustralia).

SAIGLOBAL mark: It is a product safety mark issued by SAI (formerly SAI). This mark is non-mandatory and requires factory inspection, etc.

Energy consumption requirements apply to the following household appliances:

Refrigerators and freezers (test standards: AS/NZS44741.1, AS/NZS4474.2)

Washing machines (test standards: AS/NZS2040.1, AS/NZS2040.2)

Clothes dryer (test standards: AS/NZS2442.1, AS/NZS2442.2)

Dishwasher (test standard: AS/NZS2007.1, AS/NZS2007.2)

One-way household air conditioner (test standards: AS/NZS3823.1.1, AS/NZS3823.1.2, AS/NZS3823.2, AS/NZS3823.3)

The applicant must submit an application form to the monitoring agency and attach a complete and correct test report and a sample of the energy consumption label. The test report must be issued by an accredited laboratory and is valid for three years from the date of issue.

SAA Certification Process

1. Fill out the application form

2、Product sample testing

3. Product rectification (when the test fails)

4. Issue a report

5. Report evaluation

6. Issue certificate

Information required for SAA certification

1. 2-4 samples;

2. Circuit schematic diagram (please note that the device parameters must be consistent with the nameplate and instructions);

3. Printed circuit board layout, parts location diagram;

AFor products with electronic circuits,

B If electronic switches, dimmers and other electronic components have been certified, this item does not need to be provided

4. English manual (the manual must include the manufacturer's name or trademark, model, parameters, installation methods and necessary safety warnings)

5. Model difference description (If there are multiple models in the same series, the differences and similarities between the models must be clearly listed. The statement must be signed and stamped.)

6. Label/nameplate

7. Product installation structure diagram/exploded diagram (please specify the part number and part name.)

8. List of key parts (the list must be signed and stamped)

A The format is as follows and the parts are listed in sequence according to the codes in the exploded diagram;

B Fill in one sheet for each series of products. If a component is only applicable to a specific model, please indicate it.

9. Copies of certificates for important safety-related components (please refer to the requirements of the "Key Components List" to provide certificates, and check whether the number and parameters on the certificate are consistent with the actual sample.)

SAA certification cycle

About 4-6 weeks (after the test report comes out, prepare the relevant information and send it to the Australian agency to apply for SAA certification. So this time is relatively long). The test report must be issued by the CNAS National Laboratory.
