It is learned that Amazon recently revealed in a press release that they have launched new mental health benefits for all 950,000 US employees and their family members. Amazon has 1.3 million employees worldwide and is the second-largest employer in the U.S., after Walmart, which currently has nearly 1.6 million employees in the U.S. The nation's private sector workforce was about 161 million people as of June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That means about 1 in every 169 people in the U.S. workforce works for Amazon, and about 1 in every 100 is employed by Walmart. Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky said that even with such a large workforce, their labor demand is still high. Labor demand may be one of the main factors of Amazon's current inflation. Since 2018, Amazon has paid a minimum wage of $15 per hour to all its employees, more than double the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
