It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Etsy launched the Star Seller Program on July 28, which is a new way to reward stores. Etsy will issue star seller badges to eligible sellers to distinguish them from other sellers and let shoppers know which stores have excellent customer service. It is reported that sellers have expressed their views on this plan on the Etsy forum recently.
I learned that Etsy's top seller program is exactly the same as eBay's. The only difference is that sellers on eBay get the benefit of shipping discounts, while on Etsy, sellers' ranking in search results will drop. Top sellers are measured by response rate (sellers respond to buyers’ first messages within 24 hours), shipping (sellers ship and track orders within a specified time frame), five-star ratings, and sellers must meet certain minimum standards (including at least 10 orders and $300 in sales within a three-month review period). One seller (an analyst who studies and evaluates programs) said that not all orders will generate tracking numbers, so the absence of a tracking number does not mean that the product will not be shipped or shipped on time, which conflicts with the metric that sellers ship and track orders within the specified time. He hopes that Etsy will reconsider its decision to launch this project. The seller further stated that before sellers respond to buyers’ messages about products, they must separate the messages that are worth responding to from those that are not, and if they cannot do this, the response rate measurement in Etsy’s top seller program is invalid. Many sellers discussed issues with Etsy's Top Seller Program on the AuctionBytes blog, saying that Etsy judges sellers with invalid and unreliable metrics that hurt their sales potential. Etsy asked sellers to ask questions about the top seller program on the forum, which generated 3,956 responses. Etsy will answer questions for sellers before 5 p.m. EST on Friday, August 6.
