US mobile e-commerce survey: 26% of consumers shop online via mobile devices every day

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, the latest research by Quantum Metric shows that mobile e-commerce has not yet reached its full potential in the United States. 75% of American consumers browse on mobile devices at least twice a day, while only 26% of consumers purchase goods on their devices every day.

The study pointed out that American consumers are more inclined to use desktop or laptop computers for online shopping. 69% of consumers will first research high-value products on their mobile phones and purchase them on their desktops. 59% of consumers will buy items of $50 or less on their mobile phones, while only 17% of consumers will buy items of more than $250 on their mobile phones.

Overall, the average order value for orders placed via desktop is 70% higher than for orders placed via mobile devices. Quantum Metric said that many consumers abandon mobile shopping because the overall error rate on mobile devices is two to three times that of desktops.

39% of American consumers who shop through mobile terminals prefer brand applications, followed by browsers (37%) and social media platforms (13%). When it comes to mobile shopping, consumers' biggest demands are better security (39%), more reliable payments (35%) and higher application stability (36%). In addition, consumers also seek a faster shopping experience, and 55% of consumers said they would abandon shopping if the transaction took more than three to five minutes.
