About SSCC

Regardless of whether the logistics unit itself is standardized or not, and whether the trade items contained are the same or not, SSCC can identify all logistics units. If manufacturers want to distinguish different production plants (or production workshops) in SSCC data, they can do so by assigning each production plant (or production workshop) an SSCC segment. SSCC is published in shipping notices, delivery notices, and transport messages.

SSCC is the only mandatory element for all EAN·UCC logistics labels. If other information needs to be added, it should comply with the relevant provisions of the "EAN·UCC General Specifications".

SSCC code structure (18-digit numeric code)

A. Application Identifier 00 indicates a serial shipping container code.

B. Extension bit Indicates the packaging type and is used to increase the capacity of the SSCC. It is allocated by the manufacturer who establishes the SSCC. The value range of N1 is 0~9.

C. Manufacturer identification code Same as retail products.

D. Reference Code A serial number assigned by the manufacturer.
