Walmart recalls baby products for violating federal safety regulations

It is learned that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of baby carriers sold by Joybuy at Walmart due to the risk of suffocation and falling of infants.

It is understood that the recalled product is the Joybuy Marketplace Express carrier, which is used by adults to carry infants. The carrier includes adjustable shoulder straps, black plastic buckles, hook-and-loop waist belts and hip straps. The exterior is navy blue fabric, and the interior is divided into three colors: light blue, pink and white plaid, and blue and white plaid. Because the product lacks a label and does not list a brand name, consumers should check their purchase records to determine whether their carrier is consistent with the information listed in the table below.

The CPSC said the product does not meet federal safety standards and could cause infants to fall or suffocate. In addition, the product lacks warnings and safe use information to guide users to prevent infants from getting into the wrong position. From September 2020 to April 2023, about 1,160 units of the product were sold at Walmart, with prices ranging from $15 to $21. No accident reports have been received for this product.

The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled straps and contact Joybuy Marketplace Express for instructions on how to properly dispose of the product and receive a full refund. Joybuy Marketplace Express and Walmart are currently notifying all known purchasers.
