Online shopping orders in the United States and Canada increased by 52% due to the epidemic

On April 3, due to the impact of the epidemic, consumers' online shopping demand surged , and the number of orders in the United States and Canada increased by 52%.

Pure-play e-commerce retailers in the U.S. and Canada saw a 52% year-over-year increase in e-commerce order volume and a 34% year-over-year increase in sales as of March 30, according to data from marketing platform Emarsys and analytics platform GoodData.

In addition to the growth in online sales, pickup orders are also increasing. Adobe Analytics data shows that the number of orders purchased online and in physical stores by US consumers between February 24 and March 24 also increased by 62% year-on-year.

In addition, data also shows that shoppers may have reduced their spending due to economic concerns. The survey showed that 52% of American consumers cut back on spending due to concerns about the economy or the stock market.

Meanwhile, online sales for shoppers in areas such as New York, California, and Washington increased by 20% or more between March 13 and 15, with the largest sales increases likely due to earlier outbreaks of the coronavirus in those areas.

Previously, due to the continued spread of the epidemic, online shopping among American consumers has surged for a long time, resulting in out-of-stock of daily necessities and delayed delivery services on the Amazon platform.

To this end, Amazon has also hired an additional 100,000 warehouse and delivery workers, and announced that it will give priority to orders for medical and daily necessities to ensure people's basic needs.
