The National Day holiday had just begun, and just when many sellers had adjusted to a restful state, a notification from the Amazon backend broke this peaceful time.

We learned that on the morning of October 2, a large number of sellers reported that a risk warning notification [Account Deactivated] appeared in the Amazon store backend, with the following content:

“A new W-8 tax form is required. Once your form expires, your selling account will be temporarily suspended and your listings will be removed until you provide updated US tax identity information. Please allow up to 24 hours for your submission to be processed.”

In addition, the notice also emphasized that if this problem is not resolved, the seller's account will be deactivated, and please resolve it within 90 days before December 30, 2024.

"Early in the morning, two stores received risk warnings and were required to provide updated US tax identity information. Does anyone have a solution?" a seller asked anxiously in the communication group, and attached a screenshot of the background notification and account abnormalities.

It is understood that many sellers have received the above notice, covering sites such as the United States and Japan. Judging from the scale of this mass message, it can be determined that it is a collective notice issued by Amazon to remind sellers to update their backend tax information to prevent account suspension.

In fact, most sellers are familiar with such warnings, but this time the warning of account suspension seems to come at an inopportune time. During the National Day holiday, many sellers or operators have plans to go out and are not convenient to handle work. Therefore, this notice has also caused panic and dissatisfaction among many sellers:

"I feel confused. I have to do something during this holiday."
"How should we deal with this? It's too unfriendly to have a National Day holiday."

However, some sellers also said that this requirement is not an emergency and will appear every few years. As long as it is filled out within three months, if the verification is passed, the risk of account suspension will be automatically lifted.

  • Click on "Tax Investigation Start"
  • On the first screen, select "Business" and "No"
  • The organization name filled in for tax identity information is the full company name, filled in in pinyin
  • Select the correct country and region (Sellers in Hong Kong, China, please select Hong Kong, China as the organization's country).
  • Mailing address: Or enter your preferred address for further communication with Amazon. Signature here Seller fills in the pinyin of the legal person's name
  • First name + Last name (for example, if you are Zhang San, fill in San Zhang) and finally click Submit form.
  • The tax investigation is concluded.

It is reported that according to the above operation method, many sellers have passed the review and their backend store performance has disappeared. If the same situation occurs, sellers can also try this method to handle it.
