What is the EU Energy Label? EU Energy Label Review
Energy efficiency label, also known as energy efficiency label, is an information label attached to energy-consuming products or their smallest packaging, indicating the product's energy efficiency level and other performance indicators. Its purpose is to provide users and consumers with necessary information for purchasing decisions, so as to guide and help consumers choose high-efficiency and energy-saving products. Launched in September 1992

origin

In September 1992, the European Commission promulgated the EU unified energy efficiency labeling regulations (92/75/EEC Energy Efficiency Labeling Guidelines), requiring manufacturers to mark the product's energy efficiency level, annual energy consumption and other information on their products, so that users and consumers can compare and rank the energy consumption performance of products of different brands.

Labeling products include

Refrigeration equipment (refrigerators, air conditioners, etc.), washing machines and dryers, dishwashers, electric fans, lighting, water heaters, stoves (gas stoves, induction stoves), rice cookers, microwave ovens, televisions, monitors, and projectors.

Tagged content

Energy labels generally contain information such as brand, model, energy efficiency level, power consumption, volume, etc.

Tag Level

The energy efficiency of a product is rated as a set of energy efficiency grades from A+++ to D or G that appear on the label. "A+++" means the most energy efficient and "G" means the least efficient. Pictograms may be used instead of words to enable manufacturers to sell products in different countries.

Ps: The energy efficiency label levels are revised approximately every 10 years. When the product levels are revised, the highest level will be left blank and no product will be included, thereby encouraging continuous technological improvement.

develop

In 2003, the European Commission revised the energy efficiency label for refrigerators and introduced two grades, A+ and A++. These two energy efficiency grades save 58% and 70% respectively of similar A-grade products.

As of July 31, 2011, in accordance with Directive 2010/30/EU, most European light bulb packaging, cars and major appliances must clearly display the EU Energy Label when they are sold or rented.

In 2017, the European Lighting Department issued the "EU 2017/1369 Regulation", which stipulates a new energy label table and abolishes the "EU Directive 2010/30", canceling the original A+/A++ and A+++ classification standards and replacing them with a more rigorous A to G classification standard. It came into effect on August 1, 2017.

Division of responsibilities

1. Suppliers (including authorized representatives of manufacturers outside the EU and EU importers) must ensure that each product on the EU market is accompanied by a printed label to show the applicable energy efficiency level. Each product must also be accompanied by a product data sheet that complies with the Regulation and the relevant authorized law applicable to the product.

2. In visual advertising or technical information materials for a specific product model, the supplier must provide reference to the energy efficiency class and range of energy efficiency classes of the product model in accordance with the relevant delegated act applicable to the product.

3. The European Commission will set up a product database that can be accessed online, including public and compliance parts. The public part aims to provide information to consumers, while the compliance part facilitates the monitoring of energy label compliance and provides the latest market data for the revision of product-specific labels and data sheets.
