Historical Development

Dun & Bradstreet (NYSE: DNB) was founded in 1841 and is a world-renowned business information service organization. Its headquarters is located in Short Hills, New Jersey [1]. Over its 170-year history, Dun & Bradstreet has continuously expanded the credit rating market through technological innovation.

In 1841, Lewis Tappan, the founder of Dun & Bradstreet, established the first credit reporting agency in New York;

In 1849, Dun & Bradstreet published the world's first commercial credit rating reference book;

In 1900, the world’s first securities manual was published;

In 1963, the Dun & Bradstreet code was invented;

In 1975, the American Business Information Center was established;

Since 1990, it has provided complete business information services;

In 1994, it entered China and established a branch in Shanghai.

Since 2000, the company has been committed to the development of e-commerce. In order to gain an advantageous position in the market competition, the company has recruited a large number of first-class management and professional talents.

In 2001, Dun & Bradstreet Group was reorganized to split Dun & Bradstreet and Moody's into independent listed companies.

In 2006, Dun & Bradstreet and Hua Xia Credit formed a joint venture, and Hua Xia Dun & Bradstreet China was born.

In 2011, Microcode Dun & Bradstreet was established, and Dun & Bradstreet maintained information on over 200 million global enterprises.

In 2013, Dun & Bradstreet's revenue was $1.6552 billion, operating income was $437.1 million, net income was $258.5 million, total assets were $1.8903 billion, and total equity was $1.0423 billion.

In 2014, it acquired Fliptop's social data matching business and indicee, an innovative company in the field of cloud analysis and intelligent business.

In 2015, NetProspex was acquired, which owns the world's leading business contact database, and Dun & Bradstreet's global brand was reshaped.

In 2017, it acquired Avention, the developer of OneSource, to consolidate its leadership in the B2B sales acceleration market.

In 2018, Dun & Bradstreet was named the "World's Most Ethical Company" for the tenth consecutive year by the Ethisphere Institute, and the global corporate information maintained by Dun & Bradstreet exceeded 300 million.

Dun & Bradstreet in China

In 1994, Dun & Bradstreet entered China and established Dun & Bradstreet International Information (Shanghai) Company in Shanghai. In 1996, it established a branch in Beijing and set up offices in Guangzhou and other places.

In 2005, Dun & Bradstreet in China strengthened its control over information quality through the unique DunsRight process, greatly improving the depth and breadth of its database and expanding its service offerings.

Brief Introduction of Chairman of Huaxia Dun & Bradstreet China

Professor Cao Xiaoning started working at the May 7th Cadre School of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee in 1971 and served as the deputy secretary of the school's Youth League Committee. From October 1978 to September 1982, he worked at Beijing Business College (now Beijing Technology and Business University). After graduation, he worked in the Rural Policy Research Office of the Central Secretariat, the State Commission for Restructuring the Economic System, the Ministry of Commerce and other ministries and commissions; he served as section chief, deputy director, director and deputy bureau-level cadre.

From 1988 to 1989, he worked as a visiting scholar at the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago;

In 1990, he was rated as an assistant researcher by the Rural Development Research Center of the State Council;

In 1992, he was rated as an associate researcher by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences;

In 1993, he founded Huaxia International Enterprise Credit Consulting Co., Ltd. (now Huaxia Credit Group) and has served as chairman and president ever since.

In 1997, he was rated as a researcher by the State Planning Commission;

In 2003, he became the first registered international credit executive of the "International Finance, Credit and International Business Association" (FCIB) in mainland China; in 2005, he was hired as a visiting professor by Capital University of Economics and Business;

In 2005, he established the Permanent Secretariat of the Asia Pacific Retailers Association Alliance and served as Secretary-General until September 2013;

In 2006, he established Hua Xia Dun & Bradstreet China in a joint venture with the American Dun & Bradstreet Group, and has served as chairman ever since.

In 2008, he established the Commercial Loss Prevention Professional Committee of the China General Chamber of Commerce and served as the committee director until December 2017.

DUNS Number

A DUNS number is a nine-digit identifier unique to a business. It is used to establish a D&B® business credit profile, which is often referenced by lenders and potential business partners to help predict the reliability and/or financial stability of the company in question. "DUNS" stands for Data Universal Numbering System and is used to maintain up-to-date and timely information on more than 285 million businesses worldwide.
