Recently, Amazon Europe released an announcement to remind sellers that FBA last-mile delivery fees will undergo important adjustments in April. Not only will there be increases in multiple fees, but volumetric weight billing rules will also be introduced! Some sellers who sell special large-volume and light-weight products may be familiar with this thing, but this is the first time that the weight-adding algorithm has been introduced in FBA's last-mile delivery, so I will focus on it here. Simply put, throwing weight is the volumetric billing method. For example, things like toilet paper and inflatable packaging paper are very light in themselves, but very large in size. If they are still charged by weight, the transportation contractor will lose a lot of money. Therefore, these products will be charged by volume. The volume is converted into weight units according to a certain ratio to calculate the transportation cost. This is a common practice in international express delivery. Amazon will start charging by volume after March 31st. The calculation formula is the shipping volume of the product (cubic centimeters)/5000. The calculated number is the chargeable weight (kg). For example, if the size of my package is 40cm x 35cm x 30cm, the calculated volume weight is 8.4kg. The higher volume weight or actual weight will be charged. If the actual weight of this product does not exceed 8.4kg, the charge will be based on the volume weight of 8.4kg. If the calculation method of volumetric weight is added, the cost of some of the large-volume and light-weight products mentioned above will definitely increase significantly. After March 31, the delivery fees of other categories of products may be different from those in previous months due to the introduction of volumetric weight. You can use the above formula to calculate the volumetric weight of your product and whether your cost will increase compared to the current delivery fee starting from April. In addition to the new thing of throwing weight being added to FBA, there will be some other FBA policy information starting in April, which will be told to you here. Other European FBA policies starting in April 1. European delivery network discounts The European Fulfillment Network (EFN) is a delivery service that was often compared with the Pan-European Plan before the UK left the EU. Amazon announced a discount promotion for the EFN delivery service, which will last for a year starting from March 31. Basically, the delivery fee for each tier has been reduced by about 1 euro, which is quite significant. 2. Commission discounts for clothing, shoes and bags The European site's clothing, shoes and bags categories will continue to offer commission discounts for one year starting March 31. For products with a total sales price of more than £40, the sales commission will be reduced from 15.3% to 7.14%. 3. Amazon FBA monthly storage fees increased The United States raised storage fees in February, while Europe raised them to the end of this month. The increases are as follows. Generally speaking, the cost increase will be greater during the peak season, and the storage fee will increase slightly during normal times. The overall adjustment of the European site is similar to that of the US site. There is nothing new except the calculation method of weight. In recent years, the changes in FBA fees have basically only been upward, and they are trying to charge more money. Everyone should understand the adjustment of the billing rules this time. After it takes effect on April 1, the cost will definitely change, and the product profit margin will also be recalculated. |
