Amazon will ban the sale of these products from May 19! Check for sensitive words now

Recently, Amazon UK issued an announcement stating that from May 19, self-delivery sellers will be prohibited from listing some restricted knife products.

The announcement stated that according to the requirements of the UK's latest "Offensive Weapons Act 2019", all knife products mentioned in the act, including various kitchen knives and folding knives, must use knife marks accurately, and the recipient's age must be verified upon delivery to ensure that it complies with the provisions of the act. If the age verification service (AVD) cannot be provided, the sale of these knives is not allowed.

Therefore, Amazon directly prohibits all self-delivery sellers from uploading these products. If they must sell by self-delivery, sellers must first prove that they are capable of providing logistics delivery with age verification services , such as signing an agreement with a logistics service provider with corresponding licenses, indicating that the seller's products will be delivered through the AVD delivery service.

Amazon also announced the list of logistics companies that currently have the corresponding licenses, including UPS, Royal Mail, DPD, Parcelforce and Yodel . After the seller signs the agreement and uploads the scanned copy of the agreement and the carrier's statement (stating that all orders requiring AVD services will be correctly signed and the corresponding tracking code will be provided), they can upload these restricted knife products.

In addition to providing AVD logistics services, sellers also need to correctly set the knife logo for restricted knife products. Select "More details" on the editing listing page, then find "customer_ restriction_type" in the various options, pull down and check "uk_18_knife" and save. The exclusive knife logo will be displayed below the five-point description on the product details page.

After meeting the above two necessary conditions, you can upload products normally. Amazon has also updated the requirements for uploading such products.

Upload requirements for restricted products and removal of sensitive words

When uploading these restricted products, they must be put into the specified categories. You can refer to the official table below to see whether various types of tool products need to be labeled, whether AVD services are required, and which categories they need to be uploaded to.

If you want to sell knives through FBA, you do not need to provide AVD certification. However, there are several knife products that can be sold through self-delivery but are not allowed to be sold through FBA, such as multi-purpose knives and meat cleavers. Only four products can be delivered using FBA.

After strict control of knives, Amazon will definitely conduct a round of checks based on sensitive words in knife products, and remove restricted products without AVD and knife logos. In this process, some peripheral products will definitely be affected, such as butter knives, knife sheaths or knife storage racks that have the sensitive word knife but are not restricted knives. Therefore, sellers should quickly check their listing titles and five details to see if there are any sensitive words related to knives. Knife, sharp, cut, etc. may be related to knives. It is best to remove these sensitive words first, and then change the words back after the official implementation to see if there are any cases of mistaken killing. If they are unfortunately killed by mistake, remember to file a complaint in time.
