It is learned that according to foreign media reports, Amazon and its third-party sellers' retail sales reached 610 billion US dollars in the past 12 months, surpassing Walmart's 566 billion US dollars. The e-commerce giant became the world's largest retailer outside of China for the first time.
Additionally, Walmart's revenue grew by $24 billion, while Amazon's revenue grew by nearly $200 billion.
It is learned that despite increasing market regulatory pressure and the retirement of founder Jeff Bezos as CEO this year, Amazon's growth has continued unabated, partly due to the epidemic.
The company's revenue for the latest quarter was $113.1 billion, easily beating out other big tech rivals like Apple, Google, and Microsoft. Its 27% year-over-year growth rate is astonishing for a company of this size.
Still, Amazon is a distant third in terms of sales, trailing Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, which remains the world's largest e-commerce platform, with $1.2 trillion in sales for the year ended in May.
