Amazon received more than $600 million in tax breaks to invest in logistics and distribution networks!

It is learned that according to statistics from the watchdog, Amazon received more than $600 million in tax breaks before entering this year's holiday season, and this estimate is relatively conservative because some transactions have not been fully disclosed.

As of last month, Amazon received $669 million in tax breaks, rebates and workforce development funds, most of which were used to build logistics facilities across the country.

According to the Financial Times, this is the second-highest year for Amazon subsidies after 2019, when the company received a $750 million incentive package to build its "second headquarters" in northern Virginia.

Despite this, Amazon continues to be controversial for its unscrupulous efforts to obtain tax exemption funds.

An investigation last year by Chicago public radio station WBEZ noted that Amazon received more than $700 million worth of incentives in Chicago suburbs but concealed its identities during negotiations, leaving suburbs "to compete against each other to secure the best deals."

Amazon's expansion in New York has also been fraught with controversy, with labor leaders and politicians criticizing the company for breaking promises to hire local workers in exchange for tax breaks.

Amazon has not yet responded to any questions about the tax breaks.
