Etsy subsidizes consumers out of its own pocket to help sellers seize peak season traffic

According to foreign media reports, last week, Etsy issued large discount subsidies to buyers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. All subsidies are paid by the platform itself, and sellers do not have to pay. Etsy hopes to help sellers achieve higher sales and profits through this move. In addition, the platform hopes that sellers will spend more time and energy on promotion and publicity during the peak season.

According to an announcement released by Etsy, consumers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada can immediately get $5 off every order of $25 or more through Etsy, with the coupon code GET5. The promotion started last Friday afternoon and lasted until Sunday. During this period, there is no limit on the number of times buyers can use the coupon.

Etsy also recommends that sellers use its new Share & Save feature to share their product listings on social sites to make the most of the promotion and maximize traffic.

It is learned that sellers who use this feature can share product links outside of Etsy. When consumers visit the seller's store through the link and purchase products, the resulting orders can get a 4% discount on the Etsy bill (i.e. 4% commission reduction). This is a win-win situation for Etsy and sellers.

Etsy said the new initiative can further promote the business development of sellers. It offers this promotion to consumers on behalf of millions of active sellers to help sellers increase their sales. In addition, by encouraging more consumers to shop on Etsy, Etsy will maintain attention during the holiday season.
