It is learned that according to foreign media reports, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) officially kicked off in Las Vegas. Despite the escalating Sino-US technology war, the number of Chinese exhibitors has rebounded. According to the list of exhibitors provided by the organizer, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), there are more than 1,300 Chinese companies participating in this exhibition, including 1,212 companies from the mainland and 98 companies from Hong Kong. The total number of Chinese exhibitors accounts for more than a quarter of the 4,500 registered exhibitors, ranking first among foreign exhibitors. This figure has increased from 1,115 in 2024 and 493 in 2023 during the epidemic, but it is still lower than the peak in 2018, when a total of 1,551 Chinese companies participated, accounting for more than a third of the total. Despite the rebound in the number of exhibitors, some well-known Chinese technology companies were absent from this year's exhibition. For example, ByteDance did not participate in the exhibition, and large companies that had frequently appeared at CES, such as Baidu, Huawei and DJI, also did not show up. Huawei and DJI have been included in the US export control list in recent years, reflecting the continued impact of the Sino-US technology game on the global expansion of enterprises. At the same time, the intensification of Sino-US trade tensions has also brought obstacles to Chinese companies' participation in the exhibition. Some mainland company employees were denied visas despite submitting CES invitations, which has had a large-scale impact on their exhibition plans. Recently, the Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce is also reviewing rules that may exclude China from the drone supply chain. The government also plans to introduce more restrictive measures against China's purchase of advanced artificial intelligence chips through third-party countries. Artificial intelligence has become the core focus of this exhibition. Nvidia, the world's leading artificial intelligence chip company, will release a new graphics processor at the exhibition, and its CEO Huang Renxun will deliver a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. In addition, cutting-edge technologies such as robots, quantum computing, autonomous driving, augmented reality and virtual reality have also become hot topics at the exhibition. CTA predicts that the number of CES visitors in 2025 will exceed 138,000 in 2024, of which more than 40% will come from outside the United States.
