It is learned that according to foreign media reports, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg recently announced that he will provide more than US$241 million in grants to U.S. ports to strongly support the Port Facilities Development Program (PIDP). The funding is reportedly aimed at addressing three major issues: shortages in the U.S. supply chain, inflationary pressures and the need for economic recovery. The report said that the grants will be used to further strengthen port infrastructure and improve cargo handling capacity and efficiency. Pete Buttigieg added that American seaports play a critical role in the supply chain and the funding will help support American jobs, logistics operations and achieve the vision of delivering goods faster to the American people. It is understood that PIDP has been launched for three years and has allocated more than US$492 million in the first two years, successfully providing financial support for 32 projects that promote national economic development.
