Nearly 350,000 kitchen scales are urgently recalled! Available on Amazon, Walmart and other platforms

It is learned that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently announced the recall of a kitchen scale sold by Greater Goods because it contains button batteries , which pose a risk of accidental ingestion by children.

It is understood that the recalled products are Greater Goods electronic kitchen scales, with model numbers 0480, 0455, 0456, 0458, 0473, 0479, 0481, 0747, 0748, 0749, 0751, 0752, and 0754. The products are labeled with the brand and model printed on the back, and the colors are gray, black, blue, green, pink, red, silver, and white. The Greater Goods logo is located on the top of the front panel of the scale. The scale is pre-installed with a CR3032 button lithium battery, and a spare battery is also included in the package.

Between May 2023 and September 2024, the product was sold on Amazon, Walmart and Greater Goods websites for about $10. The CPSC pointed out that the recalled kitchen scales violated mandatory federal regulations for consumer products containing button batteries or coin batteries because children could easily access the internal batteries and the included spare batteries were not packaged in child-resistant packaging as required by regulations. These violations posed a risk of ingestion. At present, there are no reports of injuries to users.

Consumers should immediately remove the batteries from kitchen scales, keep them out of the reach of children, and contact Greater Goods to learn how to get a free recall kit that includes a new replacement battery cover that attaches to the scale, the required label, and an updated instruction manual, the CPSC said. Greater Goods, Amazon, and Walmart are directly contacting all known purchasers.
