How to save yourself after Amazon images are tampered with by cross-site copycats

Many sellers may overlook a problem during the operation process, that is, being followed by others across sites. Being followed by others across sites is a time bomb. If it is not resolved in time, it will leave hidden dangers and easily affect your account and product links.

1. What should you do if someone maliciously modifies your image?

There are two key points here:

1. Get editing rights, change pictures and brands.

2. Prevent the other party from changing it back.

So the operation is divided into several steps:

1. Separate our own ASIN from the other party's variants. Go to the site where he copied the product and file a complaint about the variant violation.

But there is a prerequisite: you'd better have a brand. If not, you should first authorize the brand to the target site.

2. Use UPC to upload the product to the target site. Then open a case to change the brand and pictures.

3. On your current site, create a variation and merge the modified ASIN.

At this point, if the other party wants to change back, they will need to split your variants and change back to the brand.

If the other party has not changed your brand, directly file a complaint for infringement.

It is recommended to perform steps 2 and 3 at night to avoid pulling back and forth.

2. How to check if someone is copy-selling across multiple sites

1. Use UPC query in Amazon backend

Cross-site follow-selling is done through ASIN/UPC. In the Amazon backend, we sellers can go to the "Catalog-Add Product" path, enter UPC/EAN/ASIN for query, and then we can see whether other sites are following our products.

2. Pay attention to negative product reviews

Most sellers find out that their products are being hijacked across sites through negative reviews on other sites. We always pay attention to product reviews. Currently, cross-site hijacking is concentrated in Canada, France and Germany. Sellers should be especially vigilant about these sites.

3. Search your brand name

Since cross-site follow-selling is very hidden, sometimes there is no negative review, and we sellers have no way of knowing whether we are being followed. At this time, we can use our own brand search to see if the front desk can search for corresponding product information on other sites.

3. How to prevent and resolve cross-site copycat sales

1. Build a branded website

A simple and basic brand website can also be used to respond to various complaints and counter-complaints from Amazon.

2. Apply for Amazon Exclusive Program

The approval rate for this application is lower, the requirements are higher, the commission is increased by 5%, and other sites/any sellers are not allowed to follow suit.

3. Apply for UPC exemption

Through testing, we found that some products cannot be sold across sites through ASIN, and must be uploaded across sites through UPC//EAN/. If we have already registered the brand, we can apply for UPC exemption, so that your product will not have UPC, which can reduce the chance of being sold across sites.

4. Pending or Testbuy

If it really doesn't work, ask the service provider to stop the copycat sales, because cross-site copycat sales are like a time bomb. If other sites have bad reviews or do some illegal operations, it will affect the original site.

5. Patent Complaints

The prerequisite is to register a trademark/appearance patent and file a complaint based on appearance, trademark, or copyright. This has the most obvious effect, but the threshold and professional requirements are relatively high.
