FBA policy update! Amazon restricts sellers from making claims!

FBA policy update! Amazon restricts sellers from making claims!

In the past month, the most common complaint I heard from sellers is,

“Amazon has increased my shipment size by another size!”

"The same goods, the previous batch was standard parts, this batch has become oversized! "

In our seller communication group, being measured incorrectly by Amazon has become a daily complaint.

Everyone knows that Amazon's storage fees are charged based on volume, so if Amazon increases the size of the product when it enters the warehouse (it definitely won't be smaller), the storage fees the seller has to pay will definitely be much higher.

And Amazon’s measurements are very magical. Often, the same batch of goods with the same outer packaging will be measured in different sizes.

What’s even more frightening is that even if Amazon measures the wrong size, it will just silently update the shipment size for you without notifying you.

If you are careless, you may not realize that the size was increased until the next month or even later when the storage fees are deducted.

Fortunately, Amazon has a corresponding compensation policy for these overcharged FBA fees. Sellers can get compensation as long as they provide corresponding evidence.

Moreover, for the many careless sellers who do not frequently check costs, this compensation policy also has a friendly time limit.

As long as you find that such a measurement error has caused overcharges, no matter how long ago it happened, you can get compensation.

But today Amazon updated the FBA time limit in the background, and sellers no longer have to take too long to claim compensation!

After the update, the compensation period for additional FBA fees incurred due to size and weight measurement errors was changed to 90 days!

That is to say, within 90 days after the overcharge occurs, you can collect relevant evidence to file a claim with Amazon. However, you cannot file a claim for the overcharge after 90 days.

Even sellers who do not review costs regularly can file a claim if they discover that they have overcharged due to incorrect measurements during an occasional calculation.

Since the application can only be submitted within 90 days, sellers can only make a work plan to regularly calculate costs, which adds a heavy task for no reason.

Moreover, Amazon still does not provide a service to “notify sellers once product dimensions have changed.” Even after sellers submit cases of incorrect dimension measurements, it is not uncommon for them to still be unable to correctly measure the product.

Amazon did not think about solving the problem fundamentally, but restricted sellers from filing claims in disguise, which really made third-party sellers angry. Many sellers said in the forum that they paid a lot of money because of this wrong size.

Amazon has not yet provided further explanation for this update despite complaints from sellers. However, based on past experience, this restriction will basically be enforced by default.

So as mentioned above, the only short-term solution is to check the cost regularly or pay attention to the size and weight when putting the goods into storage. If you find that the FBA fee is abnormally high, you must check whether the size is measured incorrectly.

Of course, when sellers use FBA, in addition to the problem of measuring the wrong size, they also encounter various problems such as warehouse division, packaging and labeling. I have collected a few tips for FBA for everyone to learn. Sellers who need it can scan the code and get it from me~
