FBA pilot new function! Ranking traffic is not affected by out-of-stock

How much impact does out-of-stock have on products? Sellers who have experienced Prime Day have a deep understanding of this. Not to mention that there is no sales without goods, especially during Prime Day, orders are lost every minute.

Even under normal circumstances, out-of-stock conditions will cause a certain decline in product traffic and ranking. Even if the product is replenished later, it will take a long time to push the product back to its pre-out-of-stock level.

Recently, Amazon announced that FBA is conducting a new pilot program to help FBA sellers reduce the impact of out-of-stock situations.

Pilot Program Content and Rationale

The content of this pilot program called In-Stock Head Start is relatively simple. If your out-of-stock shipment is being transported to the FBA operation center, Amazon can display your product on the product page in advance that it is on the way.

And most importantly, consumers can still see these out-of-stock products and place orders , and Amazon will adjust the delivery time based on actual conditions.

This is a bit like the state of being in stock but not on the shelf . It also displays the availability date and can be purchased. The difference is that products participating in the pilot program can be displayed as shown below even if they are still floating on the sea, and it will not affect sales.

Even if out of stock, the product can still be displayed and purchased normally, which can minimize the impact of out of stock on product traffic and ranking, and may not even affect sales. It can be said that this is a feature that sellers have been looking forward to for a long time, so how can we participate in this plan?

Conditions for participation in the program

The principle of implementing this plan is to directly count the seller's products in the logistics process as "in-warehouse" (it will not affect the seller's inventory performance IPI)

Since this is the implementation principle, the difficulty lies in the logistics company in transit. Amazon must choose reliable logistics companies that can effectively track logistics information and grasp the arrival time. Otherwise, any delay will easily lead to customer complaints.

Therefore, there are currently only three logistics channels open to this pilot program.

1. Logistics providers participating in Amazon’s carrier platform

2. Logistics providers participating in the cooperative carrier program

3. Amazon Global Logistics

I won’t talk about the third one, AGL is Amazon’s own logistics business. The first two are platforms built by Amazon for logistics companies, which have certain indicators for timeliness and cargo safety, so it is reasonable for them to participate in the pilot program.

When products are shipped to FBA warehouses and you choose the above three logistics methods, you will be eligible to participate in the In-Stock Head Start pilot program. Amazon will review the corresponding ASINs and display the out-of-stock products (not necessarily all out-of-stock ASINs)

To sum up

Many Amazon features will be tested on a small scale before being released to sellers on a large scale with lowered conditions. However, the implementation principle of In-Stock Head Start determines that this plan cannot lower the requirements for logistics providers.

However, this feature does have a certain appeal, so more logistics companies may join Amazon's carrier program in the future to provide this feature to more ordinary sellers.

Finally, I have something personal to share with you. Amazon has made a lot of moves recently on its own logistics business AGL. Not only has it integrated other platforms, it has also launched the GSS free lock-in service, which allows sellers to lock warehouses and track logistics with just one click in the seller's backend.

Self-operated logistics business is likely to be the next focus of Amazon. However, the current price is still a bit high. Sellers who have a need to lock warehouses or want to participate in this pilot program can scan the QR code below to find me to get the registration link~
