Amazon Q2 sales are out! This category has reversed

Let’s start today’s main text.

◆ ◆ ◆ ◆

We all know that during the epidemic, Amazon's online sales are skyrocketing, and because of its unlimited prospects, Amazon's stock price has also soared, with its market value exceeding 150 million US dollars. In the past Q2 quarter, Amazon maintained this exaggerated growth, but the sales ratio of each category has changed significantly.

Recently, CIRP, a research organization, conducted a tracking survey and statistics on Amazon's sales in the entire Q2 quarter. The data showed that from March to June, the number of consumers' shopping on Amazon increased significantly. Last year, the average buyer made 2.1 purchases per month on Amazon, while this year's Q2 figure reached 2.5 times, reaching a historical high.

Moreover, the number of goods purchased each time has also increased. Now, consumers buy an average of 2.2 items each time they place an order on Amazon, which is 16% higher than the same period last year.

In general, consumers have a higher frequency of online shopping and more urgent shopping needs after the epidemic. Apparently, they have developed the habit of online shopping when the home order was implemented, and people are more willing to buy products on Amazon after returning to work.

Changes in category sales ratio

Compared with the normal period last year, the sales proportion of Amazon's various categories has changed significantly. In the second quarter, the sales proportion of food and daily necessities soared to 35%, while the proportion of electronic products dropped significantly. People are more willing to spend their shopping budget on daily necessities and will relatively reduce the consumption of entertainment equipment.

However, it is surprising that sales of clothing categories have seen a sharp reversal in the second quarter, with the sales ratio being about 6% higher than the normal period last year.

In March and April, when the U.S. was completely closed, not only did offline clothing stores close one after another, but online clothing sales also fell for several weeks due to the reduction in clothing demand caused by staying at home, and did not pick up until the end of April. By the end of Q2, sales of clothing categories not only fully recovered, but were even higher than the same period last year. This is related to Amazon’s several favorable policies for clothing in May and June, but more importantly, it is because the demand for clothing products has been awakened after the resumption of work in the United States.

The second half of the year is traditionally the peak season for e-commerce, and the demand for various products has been rising after the resumption of work in the United States. It can be said that the traffic in the second half of the year will reach the peak traffic of Amazon in recent years. Sellers need to maintain their listings well before this big wave comes at the end of the year, including product rankings, Feedback and Reviews, etc., so as to make the best use of this wave of traffic.

Manage product reviews

At present, in addition to gray operations such as evaluation and fake orders, you can choose the official one-click review request function in the background to add reviews to the product. Generally, we will choose the following two methods.

First, open each order and click Request Review. You can select the orders that need reviews. This way, you can manually filter out some orders that may have bad reviews, such as orders that have been refunded, complained, or received bad reviews from customers. The disadvantage is that it must be done manually, which is very troublesome. Manual operation also makes it easy to miss the "claim period" stipulated by the system.

Second, some software plug-ins come with a one-click review request function. The principle behind this is actually very simple. The algorithm automatically helps you click on the review request. There is no big problem, but it is generally impossible to set up a filter. It is possible that you will receive a bad review because you requested a review for a return order.
