Pocket's predecessor was Read it later, which was founded in 2007. It was renamed Pocket in April 2012 and the original paid service was made free.

Financing

In July 2011, Pocket received $2.5 million in Series A funding led by Foundation Capital.

In 2012, Pocket received $5 million in venture capital in its recent Series B round of financing, led by Foundation Capital, Baseline Ventures and Google Ventures.
