The demand for home improvement in the United States remains strong! The popularity of multiple categories has skyrocketed

According to Business Insider, although Americans' spending power has declined due to inflation, their demand for home improvement remains strong. In the second quarter, many home improvement retailers in the United States reported impressive performance.

Home Depot's total sales in the second quarter reached $43.8 billion, up 6.5% from the same period last year. At the same time, the company's online sales surged 12% during the quarter. In addition, the Home Depot app set records for downloads, traffic and transaction orders.

Home Depot's CEO said at the earnings conference at the time that as summer comes to an end, U.S. home improvement demand will further strengthen.

Lowe's revenue was $27.48 billion in the second quarter, down slightly from the same period last year. But it's worth noting that sales from professionals such as home contractors and electricians have grown by double digits. Currently, more than 23% of professionals buy items at Lowe's.

Lowe's CEO Marvin Ellison said that despite inflation, many customers are not buying to stock up on items to lower the cost of living, but are willing to spend more money to improve their homes.

In the second quarter, both Home Depot and Lowe's reported strong sales in building materials, plumbing, wood products, paint and hardware categories. However, sales of seasonal items such as outdoor grills, patio furniture, lawn mowers and fertilizer declined due to the shortened spring season.

Currently, the two companies are working hard to attract professionals such as home contractors and electricians. Home Depot launched a new B2B website in May, and Lowe's is adding more benefits to customers through the "MVP Pro Rewards" membership program. It can be seen that the two companies are gradually expanding their influence in the US home furnishing market.
