The United States Trademark Office (USPTO) has just announced its latest policy. In view of the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19, the Director of the Trademark Office has decided that starting from tomorrow, June 16, trademark applications for goods and services related to COVID-19 will be given priority and their application fees will be waived. Including products and services
The Trademark Office's move can speed up the preliminary approval process for relevant COVID-19 trademarks, and the entire application process can be shortened by about two months, but the length of the public announcement period will not change. If you want to register a trademark related to COVID-19 products, in addition to submitting a general trademark application, you need to submit an additional request for priority processing to the Trademark Office, namely Petition to Director. The online link for the relevant request can be found on the official website of the Trademark Office. This request requires the applicant to explain in writing and swear why his application is eligible for priority processing. (Source: Cross-border Black Technology) |
