Editor's Note If you decide to sell on Amazon, don’t worry, you still have a lot of preparation to do. Let’s take a look at what you need to plan in advance: 1 Account registration preparation To complete the registration of an Amazon account, you need to prepare the following information: 1. Company information Business name, address and contact information 2. Register email Prepare your mailbox in advance. 3. Credit Cards A valid international credit card. 4. Mobile phone number A mobile phone number where I can contact you. 5. Tax ID Tax information, including federal tax identification number, etc. 6. State Tax ID Number A state tax number that has tax nexus with your business. For example, if your inventory is stored on Amazon in California, you have tax nexus with that state. In June 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in South Dakota v. Wayfair, overturning the previous rule that physical facilities were the standard for determining whether a seller should collect sales tax. Regarding taxes, sellers are advised to contact professional tax lawyers or accountants to resolve related issues. 2 Some questions to answer before registering Some issues are best dealt with early. Once you open an account and are busy with new updates and optimizations, you may not be able to take care of other things: 1. How do you plan to solve the return problem? When doing e-commerce, one issue that must be considered is returns. Are you going to handle returns yourself, or let a specialized liquidation company resell the returned goods (Tradeport, Openedboxreturns, etc.). 2. Who is responsible for handling customer inquiries? In addition to preparing for questions that customers may ask, you also have to meet Amazon's requirement to reply to customers within 24 hours. Therefore, customer service duty is a very important arrangement. 3. Do you need to use FBA? Although FBA can increase the seller's product exposure, we strongly recommend that sellers use FBA. But this also raises another concern for sellers, because the goods are sent to Amazon warehouses and the products are mixed with goods from other FBA sellers, which may cause the problem of sending other counterfeit and inferior products to customers. So if you decide to use FBA but don’t want to cause the problem of sending the wrong goods, you can consider enabling the “stickered” option before sending the first batch of goods to the Amazon warehouse. 4. Do you plan to use corporate information as the account name? Some sellers may not want brands to know that they are selling on Amazon, or the cooperating dealers may not want the sellers to expose relevant information, so these sellers will make some changes to their account names. 5. Are the products you plan to sell restricted by Amazon? Amazon will set sales restrictions on some categories. If the product is restricted, you need to apply to lift the restrictions. Before registering, check the product categories approved by Amazon for sale and understand the steps to lift the restrictions. 3 Amazon has its own rules and regulations. Sellers need to master the following skills as soon as possible: 1. Create the materials needed for listing If there are other sellers selling the same product, the seller only needs to provide price, inventory and SKU information, and your product information will appear under the corresponding listing. If no one has listed this product (enter the UPC or brand in the search box to find out if anyone is selling it), you need to edit the product title, bullet points, product description, and background keywords. You also need to prepare product images. Amazon has strict requirements for product main images, including a pure white background, no branding, and a pixel size of at least 500 × 500. You can also prepare some more lifelike product images as a supplement to the main image. 2. Know the product procurement channels If your product is selling well, you need to know how to replenish inventory quickly to avoid stockouts. 3. Inventory Management Plan Sellers can use Amazon’s backend replenishment reminder tool, or external forecasting tools such as www.forecastly.com. 4. Establish a process for identifying and handling old inventory Ideally, all products would be sold, but the reality is that there is always old inventory that needs to be cleared out. Dealing with old inventory can save some money. Amazon FBA has tools to help sellers identify old inventory, but non-FBA sellers need to monitor SKUs to understand inventory status. 5. Understand the costs Understanding and summarizing all costs is a basic requirement for sellers. 6. Research who is selling the same SKU as you on Amazon Many new sellers enter the market blindly, only to find that the competition is too fierce, resulting in no sales at all. Therefore, before registering an account, it is strongly recommended that sellers first investigate the product. If Amazon is selling the same product, it is recommended to avoid these products. Sellers should also investigate in advance what prices the products are sold at. If you find that your competitors' prices are too low, it will be difficult for you to make a profit. 7. Calculate the time required to launch your listing After registration, Amazon charges a monthly fee at the end of the first month. The monthly fee for the professional seller plan is $39.99. During this period, sellers should prepare listings and inventory as early as possible and start business as soon as possible. In addition, reviews are a guarantee of sales. It is recommended that sellers register a review tool to collect reviews for their products, such as Feedbackgenius, Feedbackfive, Bqool, etc. Text ✎ Mary/ Statement: When reprinting this article, the title and original text must not be modified, and the source and original link must be retained. |
