Amazon is exploiting its players again? Force workers to work 996! Extend return period again!

In yesterday’s article, we mentioned that Amazon was exposed for withholding tips from U.S. delivery drivers, with the amount reaching as high as 61.7 million U.S. dollars.

Not only that, Amazon fails to ensure workers' safety and ignores workers' rights. These irresponsible behaviors have caused dissatisfaction among many employees.

Recently, Amazon was exposed for forcing its workers to work overtime, and its work intensity even surpassed the domestic 996?

Amazon asks workers to work 10-hour overnight shifts

According to the latest report from Motherboard, employees at Amazon's DCH1 warehouse in Chicago recently received a notice from Amazon: employees must work 10-hour shifts overnight in the new warehouse, otherwise they will face unemployment.

This "giant wheel" overnight shift usually starts around 1 a.m. and ends around lunchtime. Amazon spokesperson Jen Crowcroft said the DCH1 warehouse will be closed soon because it is often the site of protests and strikes.

It is understood that shifts are intended to improve efficiency and simplify operations, but warehouse workers do not buy into it.

DCH1 Amazon Union said the new shift schedules are "unenforceable" for many warehouse employees. While 10-hour shifts are not uncommon at Amazon warehouses, many warehouse employees are part-time employees and are not eligible for benefits.

Moreover, the shift system has several obvious disadvantages for workers. First, it lacks flexibility. Second, during the holiday peak season, employees will work overtime for a long time, which will result in a high injury rate.

This move has triggered complaints from many Amazon employees: life under the new crown is already difficult, and Amazon's harsh requirements have made their already poor families even worse.

It turns out that the world's e-commerce giants also have a side of exploiting their employees, and this behavior of forced overtime is quite similar to the "996 work system" advocated in our country.

Seller: Mr. Ma, the founder of 996, calls himself an expert.

When it comes to overtime, cross-border sellers always have a lot of complaints to complain about. It seems that when entering the cross-border e-commerce industry, overtime has become inevitable, so how do sellers view overtime and 996?

  The picture comes from Zhiwubuyan

“Busy people are busy every day, and idle people are idle every day. However, idle people are not necessarily bad, and busy people are not necessarily good.”

"It's just a trick used by capitalists. They can squeeze blood out of even a stone."

"Don't you want to die? Aren't there enough sudden deaths???"

"What are you selling? You're busier than a banknote printing factory?"

Obviously, overtime has become the norm, but there are still many companies like Amazon that require their employees to work overtime.

Amazon's harsh treatment of employees has caused internal dissatisfaction, and Amazon has not established a union, so the interests of employees are not protected. Therefore, many warehouse employees want to form a union, but Amazon firmly opposes this decision.

Amazon opposes formation of US warehouse union

Recently, the unionization campaign initiated by Amazon's warehouse workers in the United States is in full swing, but Amazon has launched an active anti-union campaign .

Workers at the BHM1 warehouse in Bessemer, near Birmingham, are about to form the first union at an Amazon warehouse in the U.S. More than 2,000 workers at the warehouse signed union authorization cards by the end of 2020. Ballots for the election are scheduled to be mailed to about 5,800 Amazon workers on February 8, and counting is scheduled for March 30, 2021.

However, in the lead-up to the union election, Amazon strongly encouraged workers to vote for the union through text messages, messages, anti-union websites, and several anti-union closed-door meetings with warehouse workers.

Amazon has claimed that "unions are a business" and has highlighted union dues, telling workers "don't let a union take your money" and referring them to the anti-union website DoItWithoutDues.com.

Amazon has also sponsored ads on Facebook for its anti-union website and asked workers to vote "no" in union elections.

Regarding the union movement, Amazon spokeswoman Heather Knox said in an email: “We respect our employees’ right to join a union of their choice, but we do not believe this group represents the views of the majority of our employees.”

Amazon's "efforts" to prevent workers from forming a union and leaving employee rights out of the question have sparked a lot of controversy.

Some people believe that Amazon only cares about the buyer experience. Whether it is third-party sellers or employees, Amazon always asks them to make changes in a condescending manner, but never changes the system for them.

A recent notice issued by Amazon has made many sellers excited.

Amazon UK to extend returns period

What gives sellers the biggest headache is not only the lack of orders, but also the endless after-sales and returns. The repeated extension of the return period has caused many sellers to suffer heavy losses.

It is learned that recently, Amazon UK announced that due to the worsening epidemic in the UK, many people have to be quarantined at home, so the return period for peak season orders will be temporarily extended .

Amazon said that for most items ordered on the UK site and shipped between October 1, 2020 and January 31, 2021, the return period will now be extended to February 28, 2021.

In the last few days of the deadline specified by Amazon, buyers' orders can still enjoy the 30-day return policy provided by Amazon. Whether it is self-delivery or FBA sellers, they need to match the return settings with the platform's return policy.

In addition to returns that fall under Amazon's regulations, sellers must also beware of malicious returns. Amazon has long been criticized for favoring buyers, often allowing returns for any reason, leaving sellers in tears.

If you encounter a buyer who maliciously returns the product, sellers should be careful because sometimes it may be sent by competitors. For buyers who falsely claim that the product is damaged, check it carefully before shipping and keep records. If he does it on purpose, ask him to take photos to prove it. If he is really unreasonable, file a complaint with Amazon.

Since the rules of each platform are different, cross-border export sellers need to fully understand the platform rules, such as the platform's return rules, deduction rules, performance rules, etc., so that they can remain unchanged in the face of changes.
