What is RMA? RMA Review
RMA is the abbreviation of Return Material Authorization , which is the main process for handling the return and exchange of defective products.

history

The Supply Chain Association has added the return process to the new version of the SCOR model (version 4.0) released in November 2000, thereby extending the scope of the supply chain operation reference model to the area of after-sales customer support.

importance

For an industry where product costs range from a few dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars, the ability to manage the return process is critical. Lack of tracking and control can result in millions of dollars in losses. In addition to the direct economic losses caused to the company by free repairs of non-insured products and replacement products that are not returned or misplaced, there are also problems with product quality and customer satisfaction. In addition, a poorly designed and implemented return process can have a huge negative impact on the company's performance and even its future. In order to improve customer relationships, companies are paying more and more attention to the management of the return process.

Processing

1. For exchange, notify the user to send back the RMA parts, confirm receipt and send the new product or parts (sometimes, the new product may be sent first), and send the invoice at the same time (with or without amount, red invoice to offset the account, new invoice will be processed as resale), the new product will be shipped according to the normal order processing process, and the returned RMA parts will be put into storage;

2. Return goods. Pay or increase the credit balance after returning the goods, and at the same time, issue a red invoice to offset the account.

3. Repair: After receiving the RMA parts into the warehouse, a repair notice or service notice will be issued. After the repair is completed and the service is confirmed, payment and financial processing will be done when the goods are shipped or picked up by the user.

Return Process

Amazon related

I want Amazon to generate a Return Merchandise Authorization number The system automatically generates an RMA number I want to provide a Return Merchandise Authorization number The seller fills in the RMA number himself

Note: This authorized return number is only for the convenience of sellers to manage returns. It represents the seller's authorization to the buyer to return the product. At the same time, the seller receives the product with the authorized return number to facilitate their repair or replacement. It cannot be used to track the goods.

How to Prevent Return Fraud

First, expensive items may not have an automatic return policy.

Secondly, when the customer is at fault, the seller can still charge a restocking fee of up to 50%. The seller can also deduct the shipping costs from the refund. Of course, the seller must remember to process the refund within 48 hours of receiving the goods so that Amazon does not automatically refund the full amount.

Third, even if Amazon processes the refund on your behalf, you can still file an appeal, but if it is the seller’s fault, the appeal will be meaningless.

Fourth, buyers who return too many goods will be blacklisted by Amazon. They may even be sued for return fraud. Therefore, sellers need to pay attention to return orders and identify any suspicious behavior.
