FBA warehouse entry requirements have been updated! Is it mandatory to provide tracking and carrier information?

Recently, Amazon has released a major news, requiring all sellers to provide carrier information and tracking information for shipments when sending goods to FBA warehouses! This policy will take effect on the European site from November 1st!

In the past, when we use a third-party freight forwarder to ship goods, we usually don’t pay much attention to the tracking information. After creating a plan and handing the goods over to the freight forwarder, the most we do is click Mark Shipped in the shipment plan and that’s it. As long as the goods are sent to the Amazon warehouse, there is no problem even if the tracking information is not filled in.

However, since Amazon restricted shipments after the pandemic, and everyone has experienced various delays in getting their shipments to the warehouse, the issue of shipment tracking information has been put on the table. The shipment tracking information is actually to facilitate the platform to dispatch transportation capacity, determine the required processing capacity according to the number of shipments, and then coordinate the warehouse's transportation capacity arrangements based on the tracking information.

Before the pandemic, sellers didn’t have to write it, and it was fine if the warehouse was a bit troublesome to scan it directly. But now the warehouse’s processing capacity is too tight, and there is no room for waste. It is mandatory to fill in the tracking information, and the platform will arrange the transportation capacity based on the tracking information, which can greatly improve the warehouse’s ability to handle incoming goods. It has been said before that during the limited warehouse period, filling in the tracking number can get the goods on the shelves faster.

So it is reasonable to force you to fill in the tracking number this time. Amazon wants to let everyone get used to this new policy in advance for the upcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday peak season, leaving some space for shipping capacity. However, these are not the most exciting parts of this announcement. The announcement mentioned something very useful.

Trackable and Sellable, Great News

In the announcement of this update, Amazon mentioned a feature called "In-Stock Head Start", which is a feature we often mention when explaining the official logistics AGL. As the official logistics, AGL can directly make the in-transit products available for sale through this feature. When buyers purchase, the local delivery time + the time of the first leg will be displayed.

Previously, only cooperating carriers and official logistics AGL could use this function. However, this time, shipments for non-cooperating carrier plans are required to upload valid tracking. In response, Amazon has decentralized the "In-Stock Head Start" function. No matter which head-leg service the seller uses, as long as they can provide effective tracking information, they can activate this function, making the products in transit directly saleable!

This feature is of great significance. Logistics is expensive and slow now. In addition, it is the year-end peak season before Black Friday, so delivery and warehousing and shelving often take a long time. If we can combine this "In-Stock Head Start" feature to put products on the shelves for sale in advance, it will greatly reduce the impact of out-of-stock and unsalable products on rankings and traffic.

Therefore, the mandatory requirement for tracking information this time is not a bad thing. It is not difficult to find a freight forwarder that can provide tracking, and it is worth it in exchange for the early sale.
