About Ruby Lane

Before sellers can open a store, they need to be reviewed by Ruby Lane's experienced artists and antique professionals. All products on the platform are sold at a fixed price.

Ruby Lane has 2,500 active store owners, selling over $125,000 worth of merchandise per day, and has over 1 million visitors per month.

Along with Lilter.com, GoAntiques, and TIAS.com, it is considered one of the four major online antiques and vintage marketplaces.

Development History

Founded in 1998 by Tom Johnson and Jim Wilcoxson, Ruby Lane was named in honor of Johnson's mother, Ruby, to create an easy-to-use online community of shops that showcase quality, pre-screened antiques and collectibles, ultimately allowing consumers to easily find the unique items they want.

In 2005, Wilcoxson left the company and Johnson became president and CEO.

In 2013, the slogan "Vintage Begins Here" was launched.

As of July 2014, the site lists over 528,000 items from over 2,500 dealers worldwide.

Awards

In 2010, Ruby Lane was named a top site in the ECommerce Bytes Sellers Choice Awards; it was voted third in 2011 and ranked second in 2012 and 2013 surveys. Ruby Lane also won first place in customer service and communication in 2012 and 2013 surveys. In 2019, Ruby Lane ranked first in customer service and communication.

In February 2014, Ruby Read was awarded the Silver Addy Creative Excellence Award in the Best Online/Digital Magazine category by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).
