Basic Introduction

BSI was founded in 1901 and was then known as the British Engineering Standards Institute. After more than 100 years of development, it has become a world-renowned international standard service provider that integrates five complementary businesses: standard research and development, standard technical information provision, product testing, system certification and commodity inspection services, and provides services to the world. BSI currently has offices or offices in 110 countries and regions in the world, with 5,500 employees, 75% of whom are abroad. They are Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, Canada, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Liechtenstein, Hong Kong, China, etc.

Certified product range

British BS certification is the access permit for electronic and electrical products to enter the British market. The following products are the most frequently applied for BS certification by domestic factories:

·Household appliances (white goods & black goods);

Consumer electronics;

Controller switch;

IT equipment;

Lighting;

Wires and cables.

The British BS certificate can be applied for separately, or it can be easily applied for through the CB certificate & report. It should be noted that the actual voltage used in the UK is 240V, so it is recommended that the voltage on the product label and instruction manual be marked as 220-240V.

Certification Type

1. The "kite" logo is a unique registered trademark of BSI, and both domestic and foreign manufacturers can apply for its use. Enterprises using this logo must not only have their products meet the requirements of the relevant BS standards, but also have a quality assurance system that complies with BS-5790 (ISO9000 family quality assurance model standards are also acceptable). During the certification process, the system must also be evaluated.

2. Safety mark certification. Products using the safety mark must comply with the safety requirements of the BS standard or other safety regulations. The application and approval method is basically the same as that of the "kite" mark, and is also applicable to domestic and foreign companies.

BSI Certification Process

1. First consultation---the applicant provides our company with a brief introduction of the company and the current status of the product to be certified, such as product model, name, parts list, drawings, working principle diagram, technical parameter table, instructions for use and other information.

2. Establish an agency relationship

---The client (the applicant) and the agent (our company) sign an agency agreement to further clarify the duties, powers and obligations of both parties in a written contract to ensure that both parties can work closely together during the application process so that the application work can be carried out smoothly and achieve the expected purpose. At the same time, the power of attorney is the legal basis that our company must submit to BSI to prove that it is indeed entrusted by the applicant.

3. Formal application form and structural parameter table are important documents for applying to BSI. Applicants can provide relevant information and entrust our company to translate and fill in the form, which will be sent back to BSI after being signed by the applicant.

4. Application confirmation---After receiving the formal application form and structural parameter table, BSI will formally confirm the application in writing within 2-4 weeks and send invoices, factory inspection questionnaires and other information.

5. Sample delivery --- When the BSI application is confirmed, the specific sample delivery requirements and the relevant standards based on which the test is based will be informed. Our company can assist the applicant in obtaining relevant standards and clarifying all relevant test items and test methods. After the sample is completed, it must be self-tested according to the standard requirements or sent to relevant domestic laboratories for prediction. Only after the prediction is qualified can the sample be safely and accurately sent to BSI for testing by express delivery.

6. Factory inspection: factory inspection before issuing the certificate and regular or irregular supervisory review after obtaining the certificate. Before the factory inspection, our company will assist the manufacturer to conduct self-inspection of production facilities, experimental equipment, measurement and the entire quality system against BSI requirements. If the inspector puts forward rectification requirements during the inspection, our company will assist the manufacturer to discuss the rectification measures as soon as possible and implement them quickly until the re-inspection is qualified.

7. Issuance of certificate: On the premise that the factory inspection is successfully passed, if the sample test is qualified, BSI will notify our company of the result in time and the BSI certificate will be issued soon.

BSI factory audit: As a third-party certification body, BSI auditors will focus on auditing the parts that customers care about based on their specific requirements. Although the audit is in the hands of the customer, BSI auditors will never give the green light to the factory if they find that the factory has violated the "zero tolerance" standard.
