Normal, once there is data abnormality, such as sales are falling, conversion rate is abnormal, flow is 0, etc., we need to deal with it in time. Regarding data analysis, we will mainly analyze store traffic data, sales data and advertising data. Through these data, we can observe whether today's sales have increased or decreased. If there is a problem, we can accurately know which link has the problem and make reasonable adjustments.

Since the new Amazon coupon rules came into effect in March, coupon errors have occurred frequently, and various error prompts will appear even if the conditions are met.

There was a bug in Amazon’s system these two days, and coupons were widely reported with the error “the promotion method is unsafe” !

On June 18, a large number of sellers reported that Amazon coupons had errors, showing " Unsafe promotion method : It has been confirmed that this ASIN may be embarrassing or offensive and cannot be added to the coupon ."

Sellers were worried that someone had marked their products as adult products, but they searched for them using keywords and ASINs and found that they were all displayed normally. They also checked their own product ads and found that the ad data was also normal. Most sellers believe that the coupon error may be due to a problem with the Amazon system again.


This time, the coupon error situation occurred not only in the United States, but also in sites such as the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Canada. In particular, the probability of error reporting for new product links was higher .

A seller opened a case and consulted customer service, and the reply he received was: There are currently technical issues with Amazon coupons, and the technical department is urgently repairing them. So far, the problem has not been completely resolved, causing sellers to be dissatisfied with the Amazon system:

"Amazon can't have a notification portal to inform merchants about this kind of technical problem. I'm speechless."

"Several new product ASINs have encountered this problem today. Maybe the system is out of order?"

“We often optimize the system in stages, but in the end we don’t know what we have optimized, and the operating interface is becoming increasingly difficult to use.”

“I really can’t complain about this coupon system.”

In fact, this is not the first time that coupon errors have occurred. It happened once in March this year when Amazon’s new coupon regulations came into effect.

Starting March 12, 2024, Amazon US sellers must meet the following pricing requirements before they can submit coupons:


  • The coupon must provide a discount percentage between the minimum discount (5%) and the maximum discount (50%);

  • The product must have a historical selling price to be eligible for coupon submission;

  • The promotional price should be lower than its "historical selling price" or recent lowest price.


Some sellers even reported that their sales were severely affected and dropped by as much as 85% due to incorrect coupon reporting.

In addition, some sellers reported that after the new regulations were changed, some coupons that had been reported as errors would be automatically restarted without the sellers’ knowledge, resulting in a large number of “0 yuan purchases”, causing huge financial losses to some sellers who were carrying out other promotional activities. ( When some sellers created coupons, due to the abnormal triggering of the automatic recovery function, the coupons that had expired or invalidated were reapplied. The large coupons + large off-site discounts directly gave buyers a wave of “0 yuan purchases”, and the inventory was sold out in seconds, resulting in a total loss of more than 300,000 yuan.)

Based on sellers’ feedback, the reasons for recent Amazon coupon errors include but are not limited to: meeting sales requirements but showing insufficient sales history, ASIN review score below the minimum threshold of 1 , etc.

In response to this series of chain reactions caused by coupon errors, some sellers believe that this may be a new low-price strategy adopted by Amazon to cope with market competition . The implementation of the new coupon rules forces sellers to inevitably compete on low prices, limiting the practice of sellers promoting new products by combining high prices with coupons. In this way, a large number of new products may flood the market at low prices, eventually causing the price level of the entire category to continue to fall.

Amazon Prime Day has entered its sprint stage. We can only hope that Amazon can fix these problems as soon as possible and reduce the frequency of system errors to ensure that sellers' promotional plans can proceed smoothly.
