Following Amazon’s launch of its low-price mall, it launched a new feature to all Amazon sellers yesterday - "Amazon Logistics Returnless Resolutions". This policy will be officially launched to FBA sellers in the United States from August 2024 , marking a new era in e-commerce return processing.

"Refund Only" is now available on the US site


According to the description in the email, this new program aims to help sellers simplify the return process by providing buyers with a full refund without requiring buyers to return the product! Amazon also said that signing up for this program can reduce the costs associated with returns.


Note: This refund without return function still has prerequisites. According to Amazon's policy:



Currently, only sellers with good credit as defined by Amazon can register for the refund without return option. This applies to all categories except dangerous goods, heavy and bulky goods, and goods above $75.


These products are not eligible for the program:


➤ Dangerous Goods: These products are not suitable for refund without return due to their inherent danger. Dangerous goods include but are not limited to flammable, explosive, toxic, harmful, corrosive and other items, which require special safety measures and regulatory compliance during transportation, storage and handling.


➤ Heavy and bulky goods: Heavy and bulky goods have higher return and handling costs due to their large size and weight, and there may be more uncertainty and risks during transportation. Therefore, such goods are usually not eligible for the refund-without-return solution.


➤ Products with an average selling price higher than $75: For products with higher prices, Amazon may restrict them from participating in the refund-without-return solution for cost and risk control reasons. This is because once high-value products are returned, sellers may face greater financial losses, and the return process is more complicated.


Currently, sellers can also actively set up to turn off this function. The specific operation is: Backstage > Settings > Amazon Logistics Settings > Click to edit the refund without return plan.

In addition, sellers do not need to pay additional fees for the "refund without return" policy, but it should be noted that a certain administrative fee will be deducted from the sales commission refund.


Sellers can manage Amazon Logistics Return Reports to view the return status of specific buyers who have enabled the refund without return solution in real time, thereby enabling full monitoring and management of the return process.

Although only refunding does sound outrageous, unlike the previous European site that received a lot of criticism for only refunding, after the US site launched the "refund only" mode, the sellers' feedback was actually mixed.

Some industry insiders bluntly stated that Amazon's move is likely to attract "freeloaders" to take advantage of loopholes . It is understood that there are currently special gangs that use refund-only services to blackmail sellers, and a large number of free tutorials are widely circulated on the Internet.


Not only that, as soon as the new policy was launched, some sellers' stores had unexpected problems - the post came from Zhiwubushu. Currently, the seller's order amount is only 11.99, but the buyer's withdrawal requirement is 75$. Currently, we are waiting for the customer service to investigate and respond to the case, and there is no update with the result.

Previously, if users were a little dissatisfied with the products they received, but it was not a big deal, they might just keep the products. But now with the refund-only option, users’ first reaction has become to get a refund only, which invisibly affects the seller’s costs…


As for whether to open the refund only policy, Amazon said that it will set some restrictions. If a buyer frequently refunds but does not return the goods, he will be restricted to prevent him from taking advantage of the situation. If sellers really cannot afford the disposal fee , they can choose to open it, as they can turn it off at any time.

The only worry is: if users use "whether to enable refund only" as the evaluation criterion of the store in the future , they will give priority to merchants that only provide refunds, and then the sellers will be in a passive position.
