It is learned that BigCommerce recently announced its fourth-quarter 2021 financial results. Data showed that the platform achieved revenue growth for the fourth consecutive year.
Fourth quarter financial highlights are as follows: Total revenue was $64.9 million, up 50% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. Annual recurring revenue (ARR) was $268.7 million for FY21 ending December 31, 2021, up 48% from December 31, 2020. As of December 31, 2021, ARR for accounts with at least one Enterprise plan ("Enterprise Accounts") was $172.9 million, up 72% from December 31, 2020, reflecting continued growth and strength in mid-sized sellers and Enterprise accounts. As of December 31, 2021, ARR from enterprise accounts as a percentage of total ARR was 64%, compared to 56% as of December 31, 2020. Adjusted EBITDA was $(110,000) compared to $(68,000) in the fourth quarter of 2020.
Other key business indicators: Business revenue in the Americas increased 49% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020. Revenue in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region increased 60% compared to the fourth quarter of 2020, and business revenue in the Asia Pacific region increased 54%.
The report shows that when the total volume of U.S. retail e-commerce fell for the first time during Cyber Week, BigCommerce merchants bucked the trend and saw a 15% year-on-year increase in GMV. In the past two years, BigCommerce merchants' Cyber Week sales have increased by 103%.
BigCommerce achieved 100% uptime during Cyber Week, marking the eighth consecutive year the platform reported zero site downtime during the peak holiday season. Building on earlier international expansion into the Netherlands, France, and Italy, BigCommerce officially launched in Mexico, Germany, and Spain in January.
