The Biden administration plans to spend $142 billion to strengthen the U.S. supply chain! Detailed plan announced

It is learned that on March 28, the Biden administration submitted a budget plan of approximately US$5.8 trillion for fiscal year 2023 to Congress, which included more funds to strengthen port infrastructure and supply chain capacity building. The budget still needs to be approved by Congress.


It is reported that the Biden administration proposed a budget of US$142 billion for supply chain construction, from roads, tunnels and bridges to improvements to airports and ports, electric vehicle chargers, safe bicycle lanes, etc., to build a first-class transportation system for the United States.

US$3 billion

Improves National Highway Freight Transport to provide funding for road improvements that carry most of the country's truck freight.

US$29 billion

Supports the National Highway Performance Program, which provides funding for construction projects on interstate highways and throughout the National Highway System.

For the Corporate Average Fuel Economy Program to support rulemaking around maximum fuel efficiency standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks.


Ports, railways and other infrastructure


$1.5 billion

Used to fund projects that improve road, highway, freight rail and port infrastructure.

For the Port Infrastructure Development Program, which aims to improve port infrastructure.

For the Comprehensive Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement Program, which provides funding for projects to reduce congestion and make rail freight more efficient.


Domestic manufacturing

Used to support two American National Standards manufacturing innovation institutions through 2023 and continue to support both institutions this year.

Helping U.S. small and medium-sized manufacturers improve competitiveness and expand partnerships.

For the Department of Energy’s new Solar Manufacturing Accelerator to build capacity in the solar supply chain and reduce reliance on imported products made using labor violations.


Self-driving cars/electric cars


US$1 billion

Support the newly created National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program to build a network of charging stations for electric vehicles.

$3.1 million

The funding will support testing and deployment programs for advanced driver assistance systems for large trucks and passenger cars.

$11.8 million

The budget includes funding for research into automated driving systems and for developing new tests, tools and procedures to assess the safety of self-driving car technology.
