Shipping costs are going up again! USPS announces a new round of price adjustments!

It is learned that according to foreign media reports, USPS (United States Postal Service) recently announced that it will increase package rates on January 22, 2023. It is worth noting that this is about 6 months since the company's last price increase.

The USPS said the ongoing economic recession, a shift in customer delivery from letters to packages, and the need for the company to undergo extensive modernization have forced the USPS to raise prices in order to maintain efficient and high-quality operations.

The report said that USPS has submitted a price adjustment explanation to the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). If approved by the PRC, the price of a first-class forever stamp will increase from 60 cents to 63 cents; the price of a 1-ounce metered mail will increase to 60 cents; the price of a postcard within the United States will increase to 48 cents; and the price of a 1-ounce letter sent to other countries will increase to $1.45.

In addition, the price of single-piece letters and fixed additional ounces will remain unchanged at 24 cents. It is worth noting that the USPS is also looking to adjust the prices of special service products, including registered mail, post office box rental fees, money order fees and the cost of purchasing insurance when sending mail.

“As operating costs continue to rise, these price adjustments provide the Postal Service with the momentum to achieve the goals of Administrator Louis DeJoy’s 10-year plan, and USPS rates remain among the most affordable in the world,” the USPS said in a statement.
