New regulations for Amazon FBA delivery? Many popular warehouses are already full

In the past two days, logistics channels broke the news that Amazon has updated the requirements for FBA shipment delivery appointments, and the new regulations will take effect from May 1st!

These are the rules that logistics providers who are responsible for booking FBA warehouse deliveries must follow. There are three specific changes.

First, within 24 hours before the originally scheduled warehousing time, the PO information that has been filled in cannot be changed. Here, the seller/freight forwarder must ensure that the information such as the number and size of the shipment boxes filled in is correct.

Second, within 72 hours before the originally scheduled warehousing time, it is not possible to change or cancel the appointment, and the logistics company is required to arrange all FBA shipments that need to be warehoused before making an appointment to enter the warehouse, otherwise it will affect the timeliness of the warehousing or even prevent the shipment from entering the warehouse.

Third, the Appointment Defect Rate caused by the above two violations must be below 5% and must not exceed 10%.

Fourth, the logistics company responsible for warehouse delivery must have a PO accuracy rate of more than 95% and must not be less than 85%. As in the first point, the PO information must be filled in correctly.

Logistics has always been a major cost of cross-border business. Sellers often compete with service providers in this area. If you have not actually used the logistics, it is difficult to know the true reputation of a logistics provider. At this time, our seller communication group is particularly useful. Sellers often exchange information in our communication group to see what logistics prices they have obtained and the reputation of the logistics provider to avoid stepping on thunder. Sellers who want to join the group can scan the code and privately chat with me.

In summary, it actually standardizes the process of logistics companies' warehouse delivery appointments, and uses performance as a means to constrain logistics companies from using various loopholes to make warehouse delivery appointments. This is actually a good thing for sellers, as standardization will help increase the speed of goods entering warehouses and being put on shelves.

However, some tricks used by logistics companies, such as hoarding a large number of orders, posting POs after the vehicle is dispatched, etc., are no longer applicable to a certain extent . In the short term, the impact on sellers will definitely be some unexpected delays, and in the long term, it may also bring additional costs. However, the prices in the logistics and freight forwarding industry are relatively competitive, so these rising costs are relatively not that painful.

The freight forwarders and logistics companies are probably the ones who suffer the most from the new regulations. In addition, as replenishment before the May Day holiday is gradually arriving at the warehouses, many popular FBA warehouses in the United States have been overwhelmed!

Popular FBA warehouses in the United States are out of stock

According to the information from the logistics department, most of the FBA warehouses that were affected by the explosion are concentrated in the western United States, such as LAX9, SBD1, GYR2, GYR3, LAS1, SCK4, SCK3, SMF3, SMF6, SMF7, OAK3, etc. In addition, some of them have deleted the existing warehouse reservation plans, and new reservations are not accepted for various pending items. On the contrary, the popular warehouse ONT8 can still be booked for entry.

There are also individual warehouses in Central and Eastern U.S. that have experienced warehouse overflows, including FTW1, IND9, MDW2, and CLT2. However, the warehouse overflows in these two regions are not as serious as those in the Western U.S. The worst case scenario is a waiting time of more than ten hours for entry into the warehouse. Some FBA warehouses that have experienced minor warehouse overflows have begun to resume normal appointments.

This is not even the busiest time before the peak season, but the warehouse is already so busy. There will be more goods arriving before the Primeday inventory deadline in June. I can’t imagine how crowded it will be. In addition to the fact that everyone is busy shipping goods during the holidays before May Day, Amazon is actually cutting staff and reducing burdens this year, laying off too many front-line employees, resulting in the FBA warehouse’s processing capacity not being able to keep up with the speed of warehouse entry. From the new warehouse requirements mentioned at the beginning of the article, it can be seen that Amazon wants to transfer the pressure of warehouse delivery to the logistics service provider, allowing them to "line up" and enter the warehouse in an orderly manner, trying to solve the upcoming peak season delivery problem by increasing manpower.

Judging from the current situation, the probability of warehouse explosion during this peak season will be higher than in previous years. If Amazon fails to properly handle the problem of docking with the logistics side, not only will the warehouse entry and shelf loading be slow, but even the outbound delivery will probably be affected. While there is still some time before Prime Day, it is best for capable sellers to make a good overseas warehouse Plan B this year to prevent problems such as out-of-stock and difficulty in entering the warehouse during the peak season.
