It is learned that on May 30, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall of an adult portable bed rail sold by Medline due to serious entrapment and suffocation hazards. It is understood that the bed rail models recalled this time are MDS6800BA and MDS6800BAH. The MDS6800BA model is sold as a single piece, and the MDS6800BAH model is sold in a box of three pieces. The bed rail is made of black metal tube and is equipped with a round black foam rubber handle and hanging bag. The brand "Medline" and model are printed on the label on the bed rail support frame. Between July 2009 and March 2024, approximately 1.5 million units of the product were sold on online marketplaces and retail stores such as Amazon, Walmart, athome, and Walgreens, with prices ranging from US$32 to US$64. After the product is installed, the user may be trapped between the bed rail and the side of the mattress, posing a serious risk of pinching and suffocation. Currently, Medline has received two reports of fatal accidents related to this product. The CPSC said consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bed rails and contact Medline for a full refund.
